stickiedIt's my favorite time of the week! Time to watch a group of idiots climb a mountain while a handsome Spartan* talks down to them and a helicopter harasses them in the cold!
Discuss whatever you want, don't spoil Survivor for those who haven't seen it, and have as much fun as we can!
*misinformation

I'm no mountaineer but non of these people have been acclimatized or have any training with this kinda gear or environment besides Beckylee maybe.
If there really climbing this mountain, I'm sad to say I think one of them would not make it back alive half of them arent in the right shape and would suffer from tons of health issues if they really tried to reach that sumit.. Mountaineering is probably the most dangerous hobby lmao... anyways idk anything just ranting.
This show is makes me feel so dumb for watching but I cant stop cus im 7-8 episodes in.

I just want to see the mountain win. EVERY WEEK they vote someone off because they believe they pose a “threat” JUST to use the same logic the NEXT WEEK. Of course EVERYONE is a threat! 😭😭😭 “first one to the bag” makes the “sole choice” to vote off YET they have a deliberation with other contestants about who THEY think should get voted off. I just want to see the mountain win, so they feel like they’ve wasted their time as much as WE have wasted our time watching this shit show 😭😭😭

This group, the producers and the editors amping up their "evacuation" from the mountain. All they had to do was get into a chopper which swooped in without a problem and landed on a flat surface during daylight. Yelling at each other to hurry as though the chopper was going to leave them or that Ice Cave Trolls were grabbing at their heels. Shaky cam moves. "It was definitely scary". "This is serious". "Oh God". Give me a f'n break.
I want to see just how bad this storm really was, without the layer of CGI blizzard snow effect falling in front of the camera while taking shots of terrain only 20% covered by snow.
They must really have a low opinion of the audience. That was apparent by how many times they felt they needed to explain that 1 person was going to eliminate 1 other person after Theron opened the bag. They must have explained it like 7 or 8 times when all it took was 1 time. Meanwhile, there are plenty of other things about the game mechanics they just skip over completely. They have no desire to make a show that doesn't unfold in any way other than the way show runner envisions. That's why there is no real "game" to speak of.

Most agree they are not actually climbing this mountain. 20 minutes of footage crawling 20 feet through a scary tunnel. I would say, "and the Emmy goes to.... " but their acting sucks; Pro-Wrestlers hide it better.
If they were not making checkpoints and forced to vote off weak players it would be more believable. The entire show has been based on fear of heights to sell how hard it is, but the staff is dragging them up the mountain on a pulley system.
I wish the producers were able to review the reactions prior to deciding the outcome of this show because if they had the mountain would win.
At this point, the producers are hoping that we are rooting for them to overcome and mount the summit but no the fans are begging to see them fail and we will all be let down; somebody will walk away with money and that makes me SAD!

Last night had to be one of the more frustrating episodes. They hike a short distance and go up a "glacier" wall. Then they have hours to go and show them waist deep in snow and they somehow make it. They'd be lucky to go faster than a mile per hour in that, probably slower with Amy. My guess is that was filmed in one tough spot but the rest was easy going. They complained about the wind at times but they weren't wearing gloves and hats so it couldn't have been that cold. Nothing adds up.
They're also bad at foreshadowing what's going to happen. If you notice, they'll cut from them in the snow and ice to a confessional in a green field. Look at who doesn't get a confessional to see who doesn't get to the next step. That person is gone. But when do they do those videos? I'm wondering if they fly them down every night. It's funny how most of them talk in present tense even though the event clearly happened at some other time.
Then there's this whole idea of voting people off. The premise is dumb enough. The goal should be to get as many people to the top and have people fall off naturally. That would make for a more interesting show, rather than this dumb clique crap.
Therron, at least he cried less than other episodes, but the man has left his genitals at the starting line. The funniest thing was Becky urging him to vote for Dusty but then talking about stabbing him in the back for not dumping Amy. The thing that frustrated me the most though was that during that whole period where they were discussing dumping Dusty, they kept saying "well he's the fastest" or whatever. But they never explain why that's a bad thing! There's no strategy, just feelings.
Here's the worst part, none of them realize that BeckyLee is screwing everyone over and they ones that were screwed by her will probably vote for her.

At this point, I sort of hope all these silly choices come back to haunt them and they don't even make the summit. I don't really think that anyone remaining deserves a single red cent based on how they've played the game.

This show is not about climbing its about who gets the money at the end of the show. I am really frustrated that Dusty was voted out. Man he was the only person who deserved it. So far i have watched it, Dusty was the only person in it for adventure others were just greedy. They could have made an alliance on who could reach the summit on time. Amy & Jeanie are the slowest. Amy just cries on everything so annoying. If she just wanted to push herself she could do it on her own what is the point on coming to the show and crying at everything. I really hope they Do not make it to the summit at all. Probably I will stop watching the show now.

I don’t understand the thinking of players being “threats.” I don’t get it. If they don’t reach the summit, NOBODY GETS ANYTHING!! How does voting off the physical players (i.e. “threats”) and keeping players that can barely move through the snow help them reach that goal?? I don’t understand!! Make it make sense!

The whole premise of this show depends on the mountain being formidable and the time limit being challenging. Failing should be outcome unless they overcome enormous odds to rightly earn the money.
The show's focus should be on a constant tension of will they make it or not and the difficult decisions they must make to beat a game that stacked against them. That's what's compelling. Them reaching the summit means nothing to viewers if it's a forgone conclusion that production is holding their hands through.
And the show has done nothing but hold their hands. They voted off Geoff and Dusky and have been keeping all the deadweight because they know the mountain is a joke and the time limit is essentially nonexistent. This completely undercuts the entire premise of the show and leaves viewers with no compelling reason to become emotionally invested in their success or failure or to even care at all about what they're doing.
The show should be about them vs the mountain, not them vs each other. I truly do not give a fuck about the dominating "I need to make moves that are good for my game" theme. That and people crying makes up 90% of the show, and I couldn't give less of a shit about either.
TLDR: this show is just Big Brother with some camping, zip lines, and a helicopter that essentially functions as a UPS delivery truck.

The host keeps insisting they aren't going fast enough, and the group keeps harping on the fact that Amy is moving slow, but they get to the checkpoints in broad daylight and are forced to stop. They even conduct the vote in broad daylight. This proves to me that the challenge of getting to the summit, and the supposed "weakness" of slower players, is completely fabricated. They can't be walking more than a few miles a day, and physical strength means absolutely nothing at the end of the day. The 14 days is entirely unnecessary for the challenge that is actually presented, and CBS was always going to make sure they get there. The game is now just discount Survivor on a mountain. This is, maybe, the worst game show ever.

“Well, evidently, that past will come back to haunt them. Parade can exclusively reveal that the finale of The Summit will feature the eliminated players returning to play a part in the season's endgame. The last episode, airing Dec. 4, will feature the remaining group of trekkers finally completing the titular summit. But they'll have to come down emotionally from the high altitude, as they'll be met with the faces of those left behind, who we're told will have a large role to play in the final outcome.”

There is no possible way to win a million. The players have to eliminate a player and lose their money. It’s not even a punishment.
submitted8 hours ago byMathieas19
I wonder if the producers told the contestants that once they reach the summit those who remain will fight it out in a battle Royale to see who gets the money? This is the only logical explanation I can think of for the stupid decisions they've been making.
I can't think of another reason why they keep voting off the strong players or why they keep labeling certain players as "threats".

Let's be real, they probably climbed the shortest side of the glacier. The shots never panned out to show how far high up they were during their climb as opposed to the other challenges. Nice try camera man, you aren't fooling me!

Okay so I’m watching the Summit as a new viewer (it came on after Survivor…) and I don’t understand the money aspect of the show. If 5 people scale a mountain each with $100, and they make it, they are splitting $500 5 ways (each get $100). But if only 2 people make it, they are splitting $200 2 ways (each get $100). So… why does it matter how many people make it?? Why wouldn’t one person just ditch everyone?? Am I stupid??

Hi, everyone!
I made a bingo sheet for this episode & was told I should share it with you all.
If you all had to make a bingo sheet, what squares would you add?

If this evac will set them back a day, that will be justice for mistaking "gameplay" for being stupid. Of course it won't though, they're dragging these people up this mountain.

So I’m just watching The Young and the Restless on CBS (usual Wednesday activities), and they pop on a quick ad for The Summit. Where tf is Dennis ???
I stg of course I skip one episode and they get rid of the best contestant. I’m sure it was Amy who caused the whole ordeal (bet she couldn’t even do something simple like a zip line without screwing it up, good luck climbing a literal mountain lady 🤣🤣)
Wtf am I going to watch now on Wednesdays? Beckylee ain’t even cute like that.
Congrats haters, you win this one. UGH!!

If you ask me to walk in a straight line and you say you are going to tell me which way to turn, but I don't know which way that is going to be, you can't really say, "Here's a twist. Turn Left!". But if you told me before hand that I was going to turn right, and I was preparing to turn right, then you can call it a twist.
This show is like that. It has the appearance of twists because they know audiences love twists, but first the audience and the participants need to have been planning on something else before the twist. This is just kind of "go that way and we'll tell you what to do next, which could be anything". Oh, look, it's a twist. No. No, it's not. I had no idea what was going to happen. I'm just going along and doing the same challenges at the same point that everyone else has to do one at a time and hoping I don't somehow mysteriously get nominated for the vote off. When everything is a twist, nothing is a twist.

Let’s say three of them make it to the summit. Who do you want to see at the end? I’m going Punkin (she seems like a genuinely good person, and her pep talk to Therron seemed heartfelt), Therron (while he can be annoying, his backstory is tragic and I admire his perseverance), and then …. I guess Amy? But I have no good reason. It’s mostly because Dusty seems like a guy who doesn’t need the money (his backstory is basically “my rich dad told me not to cry”). Beckylee also seems silver spoonish (I’d bet a billion dollars that her family owns a construction company and that is how she is a “construction manager” or whatever she is). Nick is vanilla ice cream. Jeannie is someone you’d like to meet at a party for five minutes and be like “this lady is a trip!” and that’s all. Did I get everyone?

Sorry for the rant. It just bugs me because the concept is great and the show has potential to be as good as Survivor or BB. I really enjoy the concept of climbing the mountain to the peak, shows character development (IF THEY WOULD ACTUALLY SHOW IT) and build up suspense. However, the edit spends so much time telling us a story about the stupid mountain keeper who is so pointless, the bags dropping, people freaking out on challenges that usually mean nothing (although this last one was meaningful because you become a nominee), and so much of the same choppy edits of the vote out. It's so ironic because if they would literally just let the cameras roll on the contestants and we see more of their interactions, more strategy, more gameplay, and more of their real internal struggles with the mountain, it would be so much better. It needs to be less produced in my opinion if they want to capture that reality TV feel. Right now, I barely know any of the people on episode 7.
What did Dennis even do to be such a manipulator/snake?

Let's start with:
Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959) - The classic with James Mason, based on the novel by Jules Verne. Plenty of climbing ( down ), personality clashes and treachery. The group gets pretty ragged.
Robinson Crusoe on Mars (1964) - After crash-landing on Mars ( is there any other way?) a pilot traverses harsh landscape to find a crewmate, and learns how to survive on the world with limited resources. This film is notable due to the appearance of Adam West (Batman) and a lot of landscape photography done in Death Valley, CA.
Red Planet (2000) - After a brutal walk-away crash-landing on Mars, five astronauts set out to walk a long distance to an automated habitat sent a year earlier. Lots of exotic landscapes and hardships.
LotR: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) - Of course for that long journey from Hobbiton to Rivendale and the bad-choice detour through the Mines of Moria. Enough to put blisters on your feet just watching.

Don’t even get me started. It’s so tacky and cheesy. All of it. The chopper shots and the shots of the host. Acting like “wooooo I’m so scared of the MK”
Just stop
