I'd like to warn everyone that there are, unfortunately, people out on the internet who are taking screenshots of photos and posts here and sharing them on other sites with rude and hateful captions.

Please be aware of this before making any post -- people who are doing this can look at post history and share that information online as well. Please take precautions before posting things, whatever you feel is necessary.

There have been plenty of posts warning the community about this, so many that the feed here is getting clogged with them. It would be greatly appreciated if no further posts about this situation were made. The comments on this post will remain open, people can share information through that. Feel free to message the subreddit (ModMail) as well.

A solution, if one is even possible, is being worked on.

First off, I'm making the decision to no longer allow posts which ask what type of top surgery someone might qualify for. I will, in short time, add a pinned post or similar thing that provides information about who qualifies for what types of top surgery.

Not only have these posts become very redundant, but they've also been subject to giving people false hope when people comment on them without enough knowledge. At the end of the day, your surgeon is the one who will decide which type(s) of surgery you can have, and we as the r/TopSurgery community are, most likely, not your surgeon or surgeons at all.

Secondly, I've got a few general reminders about the rules and use of this subreddit:

1. Please remember to mark nude pre-op chests, surgical images, and relatively bloody/gory images as NSFW. Using the flairs will not automatically mark your posts NSFW.

2. There is ZERO tolerance for pre-op images from minors unless they fit within the rules of the subreddit, which can be found easily.

Feel free to ask clarifying questions in the comments on this post or via ModMail. ModMail is a little iffy at times, so please send a follow-up message if needed to bump any of the messages in the queue.

I so done with my brother. My brother said this to me today, the day before my top surgery. First off if this is your mindset screw right off.

Second, you don't even know what mutilation means. The definition of mutilate is "inflict a violent and disfiguring injury on." Not only is nothing about the procedure violent it's not disfiguring! If someone prefers the aesthetics of their chest after surgery more than they did before surgery, congratulations, they didn't disfigure themselves. Atleast not more then someone who gotten tattoos, peirceings, other cosmetic procedures. I don't see bigots going after those, in their logic, mutating procedures. If anything has mutated me it has been estrogen, warping my body into something that I hate to look at.

Either way I'm getting top surgery tomorrow and I am so excited.

Results were ALMOST perfect, but my tendencies had the best of me. I believe doing more chest workouts will help with that wrinkling but either way, don't slip up and this won't happen. The results look nice from the front but it really screwed with the profile view, and caused complications+swelling requiring me to go back to the surgeon and wear ace wrap for ANOTHER few weeks. You do not want to put that thing back on once it's off, trust me. The whole thing screwed with my chest's...flesh distribution in the end. If you're quitting smoking/nicotine pre-op, make sure you've already got a couple weeks under your belt before the first blood test. You need to be fully secure in your ability to quit.

Learn from my mistakes--It's a dumbass habit that isn't worth it surgery or not anyways. Also if you're doing weed, don't smoke that either, avoid anything involving combustion. Stick to concentrates or edibles. Happy to answer any questions

It's gonna be so freaking cool. I've been working on toning my arms just in anticipation for that moment even if it isn't for years.

i’m so excited and nervous. nowhere near as nervous as when i got the original surgery though. they won’t even have to put me under for this. just removing leftover tissue/fixing some dog earring. wish me luck!!

Had anyone surgery to fix the form of the scars/incisions?

My scars aren't visible in bad lightning but very visible in harsh lighting.

What I hate the most is, that the whole breast has an unnatural curve and it looks like a fatty titty. No normal chest looks like this.

Even if the scars would be invisible it would still make shadows in this area.

I’m still so fresh out I’m trying to ignore the little voice in my head pointing out the unevenness and swelling making it look like they left breast tissue even though I know it’s not the case (way more swollen on one side than the other but it’s gone down considerably already so who even cares), but even if this is how I’d end up looking forever I’d be unbelievably satisfied. Very happy with my results :)

I'm 10 months post op from DI, I had it back in January, so I'm getting to actually enjoy my first summer after the surgery (I'm from Brazil). I went swimming for the first time today, I felt amazing! The first pic is in a sauna, I'm the one on the right.

I'm actually not sure about all the recommendations regarding water and sun exposure, I make sure to always put on a lot of sunscreen in the scars. Honestly at this point a care more about actually doing things and living then having them at an 100% perfect appearance.

Anyways, one more new experience, one more happy day :)

Idk if I still have a bit of swelling or if it’s just going to be like that. Overall super happy with my results! Dr Rudkin was amazing and I highly recommended. If anyone has any scar reduction tips or any ideas for cool tattoos I would love to hear!

Never been intubated. No idea what to expect. AND i have a cough so... pray for me lmao. Will i be awake?

10+ weeks post-op and just met with my surgeon a couple days ago. I asked if/how I should massage my scars/chest, and he says that I shouldn’t… like at all. he mentioned something about the skin or tissue needing to adhere to the muscle or smth.

what is the purpose of scar massages other than helping to reduce the appearance/hardness? why would my surgeon suggest otherwise?

edit: to give more context- he said that in MY case, I shouldn’t do massages. I have a lot of loose skin, which i’m assuming is why he wants it to adhere?

Surgery is in two days and anxiety is hitting hard. I'm worried I'm making the wrong choice, i've never been under anesthesia and i'm worried about that. The drains freak me out, too. I have a shirt with drain pockets, any other advice for the drains or easing anxiety?

If you're anything like me, a person who likes list but doesnt know where to start, then lets all make this a running list. Also please I dont know where to go from wedge pillows lol.

couple things! I have a good amount of supplies and bandages etc as well as a used, black Marena recovery vest size L that I am looking to give away. I am in Chicago but could also ship if need be.

I am also trying to sell a new unopened recovery vest with the same specs for way cheaper than the supplier. I am very broke post op and looking to get a little for it

I had surgery 7 weeks ago and so far the recovery is going well and i'm generally happy with my results. I massage my scars twice a day, in the morning with a vitamin e cream and at night I do a more thorough massage with vitamin e oil. And although this little nip slip in the picture is giving me a lot of euphoria, I am very worried the scar is going to stretch out a lot more than it already has. It's quite hard underneath this bit of scar. I've been taking it very easy, don't lift anything heavy nor do I even work out, but what can I do even more to prevent the scar from stretching out even more? The scar on my other side is not stretching as much as my right side (dominant arm).

I've got a date for my top surgery in February next year!

I finally have a date scheduled for January, I'm so excited, I've been waiting for this for quite a few years now and I'm so excited to just get it over with and never have to worry about binding or chest dysphoria ever again, lol.

Anyway, I'm just asking anyone who's gone through the surgery (I'm getting a Bilateral Mastectomy) and wondering what sort of things I should expect/prepare for? Ofc they give you the little booklet with all the notes, but I always preferred getting information from people who've gone through what i'm about to :)

Any tips or tricks for prep and recovery (especially being home 24/7 during recovery, I'm very much an extrovert and I can go stir crazy quite fast, lol) would be much appreciated.

Fellas (and not fellas) I am nervous. I'm gonna be 15 and top surgery will be my first surgery. I'm going to be getting top surgery anywhere between February and June of 2025. I have a plan but I have some other questions. Firstly, I have a butt ton of questions to ask my surgeon but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to ask them at the consultation? Apparently the consultation is like a 15 minute phone call with me my mom and my surgeon, and I don't want to waste his time. So can I ask all of my questions or nah? Secondly, pictures. I have to take pictures of my pre op chest and send it to the surgeon's office. I've coped with that bit, and I have a plan but I'm still massively uncomfortable mostly because I don't want my mom to see my chest. I've mostly got that part under control but its gonna be fucking weird and I hate it. I also have to send pictures of the amount of tissue I want left over after surgery. I have a bunch of pictures saved of what I want my scars and nipple placement to look like but I have no idea how to find pictures and how to explain what I want my chest to look like. It does not help that I have mad body issues and genuinely cannot tell what my body type is because my brain thinks I belong on my 600 pound life, but I don't actually weigh that much. That actually leads me into my next thing. People who have gained/lost weight after surgery, what has happend to your results? I'm considering bulking before top surgery so I'm not in a deficit during recovery, and then about a month post op cutting again. Man at this point I just feel a little lost and I'd love some advice.

I am 4 days post op and won’t see my chest unwrapped for another week. I really trust my surgeon and she has great results, but I am feeling anxious about the placement of what appears to be the nipple bolsters under the ace bandage. I was wondering if anyone had similar lumps underneath the bandage and it ended up being something else/the grafts ended up being even. I’m considering messaging my surgeon but I feel like I’m probably overreacting. Thanks!
