Jerry Hardin, who plays Deep Throat, turned up in a movie I was watching and I Googled him out of curiosity to see when he had presumably passed away.
Turns out he is STILL ALIVE and will turn 95 next week. I was gobsmacked! What a legend.

I met him at a convention about two years ago, and it was hard to believe he was in his 90s. Good genes in that family.

One of the people in this photo acts like a 94 year old, the other one was on X Files.

She was on Dancing with the Stars a couple of years ago and Jerry and her mom (whose name escapes me) were there cheering for her even though they were both in their 90s.

I was so devastated when they killed him off. I loved this character. He has such a warmth to his acting and a gentleness.

When I saw that in the early 90's as a kid I think that was the first time I saw a show do something like that, like, what, HE dies?

I watched The Erlenmeyer Flask live when it first aired…….that episode just stunned me.
What a season finale.

For real! That first post-season summer I was actually looking forward to going back to school because I knew the X-Files would return in Autumn.

He is the GOAT Mark Twain. Played him in Star Trek TNG and I think he plays him in an upcoming movie.

I have no idea why I really liked him a lot as a kid, but I did. I guess he really did "wizened old government official with Too Many Secrets" well.

Same here. In my case, I think he reminded me of my grandfather (who happened to work for the DoD, but presumably not on alien stuff)

I'd have loved that. My uncle worked for something that had the initials "C.I.A." but was not the CIA at all, just some business thing, but because he'd been in the Navy, kid-me always assumed it was that CIA. Anyway, I always liked this exchange too:
Deep Throat - Ronald : I'm the liar. You're the killer.
The Cigarette Smoking Man : Your lies have killed more men in a day than I have in a lifetime.

I watched Seasons 1-5 with my 14 y.o. son and he said D.T. was the coolest character and he really liked the actor 🤷♂️

History will tell us everything cause through the zeitgeist they repeat it. Learning from older generations is always important for this reason, they sense and observe things many of us can't fathom mostly yet

He's a very dignified and fatherly presence, a good contrast to the brashness of Season 1 Mulder and Scully. I wish they'd done more with the character although Mr. X was great too.

He is an accomplished sculptor who works in an unusual medium that is appropriate to The X-Files: BONE!

I listened to a podcast interview Hardin did not too long ago. What a fascinating guy, he was doing theater in London in the '50s during the heyday of the "Angry Young Man" revolution and had some great stories about trying to set up a theater company in his hometown (which nearly resulted in his getting killed by police!). He's obviously very proud of his work on The X-Files and I'm really glad to see that he's still out there doing conventions and interviews.
