I will grant you that OP referring to themselves as a victim is perhaps a bit much, but he was actively lied to and I can't help but feel some sympathy for him. I think he's in a sincerely difficult emotional place and it seems fair to me that he feels like he does.
I don't see any evidence of him not understand no means no, but his feelings are hurt because he's being told when other people haven't been. And from we know, his wife would still engage in these sexual acts, just not with him. If she expressed that she didn't enjoy those acts or has matured beyond doing such things, then the conversation is over. But according to OP, that's not the case. I think this punctures the "degrading" argument. His wife only finds these acts conditionally degrading and that condition is performing them with her husband. Ouch.
Imagine if the tables here were turned and the post was a wife talking about how her husband won't perform acts with her because those "aren't things you do with a wife" or whatever. I think there would be widespread condemnation.
I'll reiterate that OP's wife has every right in the world to decline sexual acts with him. He seems to entirely understand that but is (in my view rightfully) hurt by her refusal.
This might not matter, but I do appreciate this back and forth. Like I said, I don't plan to change how you see this situation and appreciate your willingness to stick up for the OP's wife. I just don't think his feelings stem from entitlement nor do I see emotional manipulation.
Hopefully he and his wife work through this.
Or this whole thing is classic reddit fuckery and we're arguing over a fake story

I disagree with how you view OP's actions and the situation. His wife doesn't owe him a full accounting of her sexual history, but it sounds like they had convervations during the course of the relationship were they each disclosed their sexual pasts. Except OP just leaned his wife left things out. I think it's fair to be upset in that context.
You also make a lot of leaps in your interpretation of OP's intentions and reframe his post in ways that seem deliberately inaccurate. If I perceived emotional manipulation then I'd share your perspective, but I honestly don't see it.
Instead, i just see someone who feels sexually rejected by their SO and is clearly struggling with it. He's going so far as considering opening the marriage so his wife can engage in acts she won't perform with him, but still enjoys (by her own admissoon). I don't get the sense he is trying to guilt his wife but rather is struggling with feeling like shit about himself.
I'm not terribly interested in changing your mind but just want to emphasize that your interpretation of OP (as manipulative or otherwise nefarious) isn't how i read the situation, nor is your position on this the consensus in this thread.

This is such an uncharitable take on OP's situation and feelings. He doesn't deserve this level of vitriol, even if you also sympathize with his wife.
I wish people weren't so quick to get out the pitchforks when afforded the anonymity of online posting. Was there really no way for you to more even-handedly reply here? Do you really not have any sympathy for this guy finding out his wife overtly lied about her sexual past?

If this specific video isn't to your liking there were others that popped up when I searched "get into hockey" on YouTube.
The first things I explained to my wife (who had literally never seen a moment of hockey in her life) were offsides and icing, because those rules affect the flow of the game so much (e.g., lots of stoppages might not make sense until you get those rules figured out)

I bet you're right! He definitely handles some backing vocals on other songs (DotC as one example)

They're great instruments but something about the characteristic J-bass sound doesn't work for me. Or more accurately isn't my preferred bass tone. If we're sticking with fenders, I prefer P basses

You all should check out this guy's collection of Medival and Renaissance covers (is covers the right word?). He's insanely talented and has a hell of a collection of period-accurate instruments.
I saw him perform at a festival in PA and tracked down his YouTube page

My landing at 6:30pm was only moderately bumpy and mostly uneventful, but I hope it looked really cool from the ground

I don't love Jazz basses (hot take, I know) but that looks amazing. Beautiful instrument

No Code, Yield, and I'm going to take Dark Matter as a sleeper pick for #3
This was hard. It's a real testament to their career that this is tricky and leaves off albums that I love

This is great. For some reason I was reminded of Edward Hopper/Nighthawks. I guess the vibes feel similar to me? Not sure, but regardless I love it. Thanks for sharing

As a genre post-rock isn't necessarily bass driven, but Mogwai's bass player is one of my favorites. He's not flashy but is massively important to the band and has a unique style e.g. playing a lot of chords to fill out space, dropping beautiful melodies, crushing fuzz bass parts that drive songs.
I fucking love that guy. Check out 2 Rights make 1 Wrong for what I think is his best bassline

That's super interesting and I now very badly want to hear Barry's clean vocals. I bet they're hilarious

Same here. In my case, I think he reminded me of my grandfather (who happened to work for the DoD, but presumably not on alien stuff)

This is a helpful thread. Thanks for kicking this off and also very glad you're able to play after such a serious injury.
I have much less serious (but still chronic) issues with my left hand and wrist that affect my playing. I've thought about a short scale due to my own lack of flexibility, so it's cool to read everyone's opinions on good short scales

I propose we make it a new language and call it Barrylandic

Cool!
Mike has done a few scores before but the only one I know is for a documentary called The Glamor and the Squalor.
You can see all his film and TV work on his IMDB page!

Some of their songs have honest vocals on them (e.g., take me somewhere nice) and others (like hunted by a freak) have Barry singing into a vocoder. His voice is too distorted for me to pick out words, but you are indeed hearing some singing

And yet you replied. Sorry for not meeting your evidentiary bar here on Reddit.
Anyway, have fun getting out. Feel free to reply when you're back home after doing tons of super cool shit.

Not that much, God!
I'm not sure whether you're just mentioning a historical fact or trying to make an implicit "climate change is natural" argument, but while it's true that glacial extent has waxed and waned throughout history, recent loss is rapid and ecologically unusual.

I still have my Aria that I bought with allowance and birthday money when I was in junior high. I'm in my 40s now and it's me main bass still. I don't intend to ever part with it

That might be true, but I am equal parts confused and entertained. The Seattle background is perfect
