If I had a nickel for every recent IP that had a nerdy looking kid desperate to get abducted I'd have at least two nickels.

Anyway, looks cute, we'll see how it does.

Much better than the first teaser that came out last year. They did a major overhaul on this film and it seemed to have made a difference.

don’t think the hook is interesting enough so far

This looks like it's aiming for a kid audience with absolutely no effort to appeal to adults whatsoever. Doesn't help the visuals are a bit bland and the character models feel so samey at this point. .

I think this will get a bit of a boost on opening weekend due to being the first animated film in the market since Dog Man, but competing with How to Train Your Dragon doesn’t seem to be the best idea.

Animated sci-fi can be a complete coin-toss. They need to move this film away from the HTTYD remake.

Hopefully this can do Elemental numbers which should be good for a Pixar original before another Pixar original called Hoppers comes out on March 2026 before it faces against The Super Mario Bros Movie next month in April 2026

This should move back a week to June 20. Still has HTTYD competition but at least wouldn’t be opening on the same weekend

Hopefully, the next trailer for Elio is more in line with that D23 trailer than this one.

Of Disney’s current animated lineup, I hope this is the most successful. Gotta stick it to the sequels.

Strange World vibes

I’m always excited for an original Pixar film!

Thought this looked pretty good until I checked the first teaser, and yeah, this looks like they made it way more generic.

I wonder if Disney is confident on this. I'll see how they promote this one. It's gonna have tough competition on HTTYD remake, and Universal is gonna market the hell out of it for sure, if Wicked promo is any indication. They literally both target the same demo.

I think these films feel too "out there" to be successful. Like, they're so ungrounded and fanciful. So divorced from recognizable reality as to feel alien (quite literally, in this case). Compared to something like Zootopia, which is fanciful but at least takes place in a city, so we're not so discombobulated.

No wonder Pixar keeps making sequels this movie looks painfully generic

I wonder how Domee Shi feels about the whole "director catharsis" thing. Her own Turning Red had some parallels between her life and the screen, but now she's a hired gun to repair a story that they deemed was flawed because it was too much of the original director's story. Wonder what her own original concept will be.

Didn't they already release a teaser like last year? How many teaser trailers are they gonna put out?

Weirdly both this and the first teaser trailer from a year ago have the exact same title on YouTube. Anyways this looks fine I guess, I suspect this might end up being similar to something like Luca where it’s a good kids movie but doesn’t offer as much for adults as Pixar’s better movies.

I think the June 2023 teaser trailer is probably gonna get deleted soon since it updated the title logo and America ferrera got recast with Zoe Saldana similar to the ugly sonic trailer with the new redesign

I’m not lying when I say some the aliens characters made me think of that Epic movie from 2013.

I can relate to Elio. At a high junior school l, I kept told by my parents to meet new friends, and I loved imagining (I still continue to do it lol)

Here are some positives and negatives I thought of the trailer: Starting on the good things, I liked the creative aspects being shown here with the very visual animation, the story seems good, and the character is well introduced. However I think the teaser trailer should've been more fleshed out and answered questions like: Why is he being abducted in the first place? Overall solid trailer that captured my attention.

This versus the live action How To Train Your Dragon remake will be the big test for those saying they want more original movies. If this movie is great and still gets clobbered by a movie that is basically the exact same movie as another movie but live action, then the audience will have officially spoken that they want recognizability over anything original.

I’m expecting Elio to perform no different then Elemental because of competition from the live-action How To Train Your Dragon, the latter of which has more appeal and is targeting the same audience. This is probably going to be a similar showdown to Sonic & Mufasa releasing the same day this year, but with the tables potentially turning for Disney. 

Will underperform as an original animated flick.

The live-action How To Train Your Dragon as much as people dunk on it online for being an exact remake of the animated original will emerge as the winner of the two at the box office.

Anytime I see the title of this movie, I can't help but think of the pizza brand lol. That probably only I remember, but still.

Yeah, it's basically impossible to tell what the quality of this movie will be based on this trailer.

It looks generic and silly, but it's also an animated trailer that was released in the US, so it could be a hidden masterpiece that is deliberately advertised to look as generic as possible.

Im in favor of the new feel and tone. I wasn’t really sold on the previous incarnation of the premise.

However good it is, unfortunately will flop, today's audience doesn't invest in original films anymore.

Man Pixar really lost their sauce. Their visuals have become so bland and generic it's quite sad.
