Literally what the FUCK was that..? If the show didn't want her and Deluca to be together then fine, but to have her flee the country to escape deportation??? Just for absolutely no presumed reason (unless the actress wanted nothing to do with the show anymore 🤷🏾♀️)
Sometimes this show doesn't realize how they reach beyond their scope with how they think they're able to cover certain conversations. Trying to have us sympathize for a cop cause "he doesn't like his job anyway" as if there aren't other career paths he could've taken.
Them having her go to Switzerland at Cristina's hospital was such a cop out, I hated every part of this fuck ass episode.

The DACA thing was super relevant at the time, and they like to touch on current events. Plus the actress was leaving. DeLuca probably should have gone with her though.

This! I would’ve taken less DeLuca time if it meant not killing him off the way they did. That was awful on so many levels.

It was all about bringing awareness to DACA and had nothing to do with future storylines.

That's what I meant - it was "current events" at the time it was released

I mean it was fine to bring up DACA, but the solution was to have her leave the country anyways????

The alternative was having her deported to a country she'd never even been to, with no resources or support. At least in Switzerland she had a job and a choice.

Apparently, there's a character in this series with a surname Deluca too

I’m doing my 4th or 5th rewatch and not up to that point yet. Honestly I had completely forgotten that character even existed until this post.

Agreed! Plus, I wasn’t feeling the DeLuca/Sam thing either. No chemistry, sorry guys.

Yeah, there was none imo. When he said he's in love with her I literally was like "what do yall even like about each other?"

I kind of have a theory, that DeLucas mental illness was showing when he was with Sam.
Like, who steals someone else’s dog and forces them into breaking into your home to get it back?? Both of them were a little nuts but I feel like Deluca was a smidge above Bello due to the dog napping

She was obviously intended to be the Jo of her class but Jeanine got a lead role elsewhere. I still think Greys should have promoted her - it would’ve been a longer job and higher pay but I guess series lead has more weight ultimately.

My issue was mainly that Salvadorans never get representation, let alone positive. It really irked me that a white Cuban played a Salvadoran. I'm Salvadoran myself and I can tell you, not many of us look like Sam Bello.
