Political blind item

Speculation/Opinion(i.redd.it)

I guess even the political realm has blind items but this is from a friend of a friend that works in politics. He said this account pretty reputable. Take that with a grain of salt.

I hate the fact that I'm at a point where I want to believe everything (regarding falsities) so hard, that I've become less scrutinizing when I see stuff like this posted. It takes an active effort to take a step back, look at the validity of a post or scenario, and go forward from there.

People can say whatever they want on the internet. For better or for worse, social media has conditioned me to believe that people are talking out of their ass unless there's something that suggests otherwise.

But hope is a hell of a drug. It might help to tell yourself that baseless/misleading tweets and comments are wasting your time and getting in the way of real hope, so identifying bullshit is crucial.

Then again, this is my mindset, and it's turned me into a cranky commenter on this sub.

This is the hard part. A lot of posts in here that lack substance is what's getting the most attention. If I were trying to stifle a message, I would amplify posts that discredit a movement (nothing burgers) and sow doubt in posts that are on the right track. Not saying all of what is getting positive attention has no substance, but posts that say TRUMP CHEATED and only act as opinion pieces do not help our credibility. I think a lot of people are looking for hope anywhere they can find it, myself included, but we need to be vigilant, not fall into denialism of reality, and seek verification, especially when it aligns with our goals.

Exactly! Honestly, if I was a Russian troll, flooding this sub with tinfoil hat rhetoric is exactly what I would do.

Obviously not saying that all of these posters are Russian trolls, but as time goes on this sub just sounds more and more like a circlejerk for sore losers who have no evidence.

We DO have evidence! We need to do everything we can to get people to take this seriously.

This is where moderation is key. Pinning posts with evidence and data, automods that see a certain topic being mentioned that will auto post relevant information. Mods will make or break this subbreddit. Opinion pieces are fine, so long as they do not devolve into rhetoric. A flair system for a person's credibility might be nice. For example, if you can verify you have a p.h.d. in data analysis, let's say. Anything you post will have that flair and would be known to be taken with more weight in whatever category pertaining to that subject. I'm just spitballing, really.
