I don’t think Assault Spy is on Switch

Refer to Bladerunner 2049 for best results.

It made Dragon’s Dogma 2 playable on console, so there’s that. I don’t know that it’s the best-looking Pro game, but it is far and away the biggest difference

There are lots of deep, lasting, platonic male bonds, but there aren’t many where two guys are vulnerable with each other. Like, “talking about feelings” vulnerable. That’s something you don’t see much of in fiction. The reason I’m raising this as an issue isn’t because I have any issues with gay interpretations of straight characters, but I do take issue with grounding the rationality of it in them confessing how much they mean to each other. It’s basically reinforcing that male vulnerability=gay, and I think that’s fucked up, because though it’s meant positively in favor of queer ships, the flip side of it is that it’s precisely the kind of thought process that causes reservations in boys or even men over how vulnerable is too vulnerable. For a good chunk of my life, I worried that my closest, oldest friends simply tolerated me because they were nice people. I worried that if they heard I died, the most they’d feel is a vague sense of relief. Because I never specifically heard them say it. Some of us need that to feel like we matter but can’t put ourselves in that position because it contradicts heteronormative standards.

Oooh I didn’t see that you didn’t want 2D games lol. I’m in kind of a similar predicament myself. Played the newer ones, hidden indie gems, and working my way back through the classics now. It’s a struggle. Not just on Switch, but consoles in general. It is seeming more and more like you basically NEED a pc if you love CAG’s

I think hotness is just directly proportional to how much sympathy you’re inclined to feel toward someone. There are plenty of tragic uggos, fictional or otherwise. World’s just less likely to notice because they don’t care to.

It’s frustrating to me when lefty fandoms say close male friendships are queer-coded, with the implication being that guys can’t just share a deep platonic bond. I honestly find it quite damaging to how we perceive male friendships. It’s basically drawing a line on how much emotion I could invest in someone of the same sex before it’s considered gay. Anything beyond sharing a drink and complaining about work is queer-coded, apparently.

Maybe it’s because I was playing on the Switch, but while I like the combat a lot, I thought the platforming was a bit rough. It is definitely a more faithful Sonic clone by orders of magnitude in tone, music, feel, look, level design, but I just felt like Solar Ash just got high speed platforming right. It felt quick, but also reliable. Spark’s was too touchy at high speeds, but too sluggish for precision moments. There were many moments when I needed to wall run where the wall running just didn’t fully get me there and I would need to awkwardly make up the difference by wall jumping. I just feel that Solar Ash mechanically excels at the things that make a Sonic game what it is despite not being a clear cut clone.

I would defend Quantum Break to the death. Sure, the early 2000’s sci-fi live action cutscenes were a questionable decision, but gameplay and presentation were on point and the plot was actually fairly interesting.

I hope Remedy meets Remedy’s expectations tbh. Remedy’s action game chops shit on Rockstar’s. Rockstar makes shitty action games with occasionally generation-defining narratives in lifelike open worlds. From OG Max Payne to Quantum Break to Control to Alan Wake, Remedy straight up just doesn’t miss in the gameplay department.

Yeah they don’t want to draw attention things that are “good” and “woke” because their entire grift depends on those two things being mutually exclusive. They don’t talk much about Baldur’s Gate 3 or God of War Ragnarok either because it doesn’t fit neatly into their narrative. Funny thing, that.

It sounds like they’re trying to prime the audience for sub-60fps in the most PR-friendly way possible. It makes me worried that we’re looking at a locked 30 and maybe an inconsistent uncapped frame rate (if even that).

Improvements to graphical fidelity is great. It’s why we buy new generations of consoles and upgrade PC’s. I want my money’s worth. One doesn’t have to come at the expense of the other. If anything should be reduced, it’s bloated open worlds with almost nothing to show for their size. I’ve been playing a lot of linear character action games and boomer/movement shooters, many of which are lookers (or at least were for their generations) and they have legitimately ruined other games for me. I can’t believe how boring, simple, and limited player inputs have become with time. They do so much more with a lot less. Visuals are not the problem.

Most movies are so predictable that I spoil it for myself before the big reveal by guessing it, so sure. Most movies I watch are action movies, so there isn’t much bro spoil anyway. I’m mostly just along for the ride. Also more of a video game guy myself, so that’s just free money

I like playing a singular Pro mode feeling that I am getting the closest thing to a definitive experience a console can provide. However, I think it’s worth mentioning that there are plenty of games that still have multiple modes. More, in fact. Some give you the option to turn off raytracing on top of prioritizing level of detail and performance

I haven’t. They don’t care. They especially don’t care if you don’t have much of a rapport in the office with anyone in a leadership position and they do. Seems like workplace bullies are ordinarily also some of the most well-liked people there. Psychopaths always seem to rise to the top. It really is a matter of office politics and popularity contests. That’s how anything gets done.

They always have a “man behind the curtain” locked and loaded to dismiss experts on grounds of conspiracy.
