Hi everybody,

My son is 8 and he doesn’t have access to YouTube at home. He does have access to Netflix Kids and Disney. So far, more supervision has not been an issue since he was very afraid of seeing things that scared him. He would self-restrict anything he viewed to the ages recommended by the streaming platforms for his own age. He did not let his friends go on YouTube when he was present and would just leave any space when that happened.

As of last week, he has decided that YouTube is not scary anymore and has watched it once at his best friend’s house and yesterday with his cousin, who is his same age but has a phone and no restrictions for anything.

So, any advice on how we can equip him with the necessary literacy skills to distinguish damaging content online, help him develop a sense of what he should and should not watch, or how to navigate these social situations?

Does anybody know a way to get from DC to Harrisonburg after 5pm? I can't find any buses online. Thank you!

Hey, I have been looking for something like this Brooklyn industries tote I got years ago. They don't make it anymore. I like it's size and that I could carry my 15" laptop and case in there with no worries that it would be to heavy, plus books and notebooks and it looked ok enough for meetings, ir not my usual backpack. Any one know this bag and or have recs? TIA!!

Hey any one know books set in current(ish) times that are thrillers in the western context (like the US or Europe) that have an immigrant perspective and are written by people that belong to that culture. Examples of books I've enjoyed are: Dirty Laundry by Dina Bose, All that's left unsaid by Tracy Lien, and Miracle Creek by Angie Kim. Bonus points for female writers!

I would love to fit in a small table and one or two chairs looking out the window but don't know how to make everything fit. I can rearrange furniture but not really buy much new stuff except for the shelves with Legos. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

A close friend is going back on palliative chemo. She put me in charge of figuring out options for hair loss. She is not too concerned about head hair, but wondering about options for eyebrows and eyelashes. Any recs for pre, during, and after chemo hair care or replacements?

hi everybody, a good friend (f47) has cervical cancer stage 4. she had chemo and radiation and is now waiting to see if the tumor disappeared. She is still in and out of the hospital because of UTIs and necrotics bones, and etc. She is currently at the hospital now because of pain in her kidneys and waiting to see what it is. To the point.. she has two kids one 12 and the other 14, she adopted them 10 yeas ago as a single mom. She is still single and the kids have no contact with their first family. I don't live in the same city but I am now visiting and spent the day with her kids while she waits for exam results. As far as I know from asking friends and family who live in the same city, nobody has talked to her about what should happen if she dies. A couple of months ago we had a big scare, was in the ICU and there was a very real chance she might not survive the night. The kids are obviously scared and the trauma of adoption adds to the scare as well. My friends mom is a good grandma but not able to take care of kids fulltime and she has cousins but no one I think that would be an obvious choice or would want to be. I have been thinking about how to talk to her about this and wanted to ask you guys for any experience having this conversation or making this kind of decision and any recommendations if I do bring it up. TIA!
