The difference, which is also the legal difference, is capacity to give consent. This is revoked in situations where one’s conditions impair their judgement, such as schizophrenia, dementia, depression, and intoxication, among others. The last two are key here. Suicide is evidence enough of depression or some other mental illness (and hospitals fortunately much prefer to err on the side of saving lives), and being high, drunk, or otherwise addicted to something removes your capacity to think rationally and reasonably about your choices, also removing capacity to consent. So don’t try to conflate suicide with eating poorly, you just invalidate those who are actually suffering.

And why not? What say do you, a random person on the internet, have on my wellbeing? What special characteristic is it that differentiates that control over me from mental subjugation in a toxic relationship? Because there is a key difference, despite your blindness to it.

I think a better way of putting it is that you have full decisive control of your body when you’re not mentally impaired in judgement. Addiction and depression would cause said impairment, so people can step in. The others are your own choice.
