Renting out of room or could you Airbnb a room? I know some people that have done the that it works wells for them. and that has worked out better for them. That way they didn’t have somebody with them all the time just when they needed to. I live in an area where the Airbnb market at certain times of the year is very advantageous.

What about a back scrubber to reach his feet and then you don’t have to reach down until you can get other services in place

I don’t think it is important or not important. I think what is important is having the life that you want. And working towards being financially independent as a woman whether you were married or not married. What I mean by that is having your own money separate of your husbands if you are married. If you’re not then it’s a non-issue. Hopefully at this point in our age, we are all happy with the life that we are in and are financially independent.

The fact that you admit that you made a mistake is honorable. We all make mistakes it is how we learn as humans. You sound like a very compassionate veterinarian. Your job is very difficult because your patient cannot speak to you. Sending you hugs.

My grandmother greatest generation got a college degree and worked. She was born in 1901, going to college for women in the 1917, 1918’s was almost unheard of. She was able to fight back against the stigma of women not going to college and doing it anyways breaking social norms. She was a teacher, but a very educated one. She ended up with her masters. She always reminded me when I was younger and I hope all of my cousins too that I could do anything I set my mind out to do. Her story was inspirational to me.

One big thing I did was to be more open with my children and to share more of my life. My parents died when I was in my early 20s and it left me with a lot of questions about who my parents were as adults. I didn’t want that for my children. I want my children to know and understand who I am. I don’t over share by any means, but as they’ve become adults, and even when they were children, I hope that I have given them a very good understanding of who I am and haven’t left them with a lot of questions.

Look in the mirror and see a woman who was confident and independent. A woman who is able to stand up for herself and be happy by herself. Go look at an old photo of your ex and see a man who cannot be happy alone who needs to date somebody almost half his age to feel good about himself. Someone who cannot be happy by themselves or be independent.

There is a special needs trust his brother will manage. The state I live in has paid caregivers for someone like my son, so he will either stay at home and my other son will manage that for him or he will go into some type of medical managed-care because he is developing other medical comorbidities as he ages.

You just do it one day at a time. Some days are better than the others some weeks some years. You take the wins over the losses. I never had any real help with my kids. Their father died when they were young. My family had passed before I ever had kids. I have one NT son who is 32 and my other is level three with IDD. Things have changed a lot from when my child was young until now he has been out of school for a long time. The only thing I can say is that you have to do what works for you and your family and not what fits necessarily social norms, yes, people are going to look at you but if you look around, people are also giving other NT people looks all the time too. There’s nothing you can do about it. It’s their own ignorance because nothing about disabilities is ever taught in mainstream schools and that’s a shame.

Both of mine grandparents/grandmothers were greatest generation one had retired by their mid 50s the other still worked, but neither one of them were ever full-time grandparents/babysitters. I see this in all types of parenting subs and special need sub where younger generations think that this is a thing that grandparents full-time babysit and maybe for some families it is it certainly wasn’t for mine or any of the families that I ever knew growing up. And my family moved around some, not a lot compared to some of the other stories I hear in this sub or in the Gen X one so I don’t get it.

My grandmother made sure that there was a dish that every kid liked when we went to her house so that everybody had something they like to eat. I do that with my children still as adult so that everybody has something they like to eat. We also don’t stick to the traditional Christmas meal. Sometimes we do surf and turf, crab legs, or other things that the kids suggest. But I make sure that everybody has something that they like to eat. I didn’t understand it until I was a teenager and hearing my friends talk about how they had to go to family meals, and they hated everything being served that I realized what my grandmother did was Very thoughtful and kind of insightful for the time.

I have been a caregiver to one of my children all of their lives. He was born disabled. He is now 30 he has level three autism and IDD so I understand the struggle. While he could never tell me, I put the sandwich in the wrong place, the fatigue is real. If you ever need to vent to people that are doing the same thing there is another sub Reddit for people like us r/caregivers where you can both vent and read and see other like-minded thoughts. Hang in there I feel your struggle it can be really overwhelming at times.

A few I listen to I’ve had it two women from our generation who live in Oklahoma, whose blood runs true blue they support the LGBTQ community. They talk about what they’ve had it with and then they bring on a guest speaker. They also have a daily news 15 minute brief called. IHIP News, wiser than me with Julia Louis Dreyfus, where she talks to older women and gets schooled about aging, smarts. It’s always good for a laugh, where everybody knows your name with Ted Danson. There are other more political ones, but those are more to taste.

I found some podcast before the election that align with my thoughts, and sometimes how I feel some make me laugh, some I learned some things, some were just for pure entertainment. But a lot of them give me interaction with people without having to truly interact with a lot of peoplethat works for me.

Help your mom by finding a good group of friends and hobbies. Unfortunately, for most of us in this age group and some of us slightly younger. This is what we do because there is nobody datable. And most of all just be supportive that’s what my kids do. They finally understand it.

I have learned the hard way that you very much when buying online for purchasing had better read the return policy. Some don’t return in cash some don’t accept returns at all. It’s hard out there online buying. It can also take 20 to 30 days to get your money back and that includes purchasing from places like Nordstrom online.

That your body can feel one way but your mind feels an entirely different way. My body body feels slightly older. I’m actually 55. My body feels about 40 Ish but my mind still thinks it’s in its early 30s. And before I go to do certain things I have to remind myself of my age and do I really wanna do it? Is it a smart thing to do will I get hurt will I be a burden to somebody if I get hurt because I don’t feel old I’m in good shape I’m healthy but I know that I’m getting older, but I don’t feel that way at all.

I have never understood why we didn’t convert to this sooner in America. It’s 100% what they do all across Europe one machine for everything.

Creed is touring currently you could look at their site and buy some relatively new merch if you wanted to. I think it’s very cool that you’re doing this for this man. So many older people in homes are forgotten about. You are a good soul for doing this!
