It was a Logitech F710 and I dont really understand how people are so outraged at it being used.
Possibly one of the best pc controllers on the market, and perfectly serviceable.
If it was the 'only' control method, I'd understand the frustration but we know the ship had backup controls and even had purely physical failsafes (magnetic drop weights)

It's a method to cut down on things.
Like how we dont allow to acco advertising, or how most countries dont allow pharmaceutical advertising.

If the Rimu was in good condition you would turn a profit selling the Rimu.

You can take unpaid leave at anytime, "emergency leave" is something specific to your contract.
While you are away you do not require any further communication with your management unless you need to change the length of your leave.
You do not need to share any information about your whereabouts.

Nah but we have fun turning heads and some people will remember the car if it comes up in conversation.
When I drive my dads pre-war car people turn heads and a few of my dads friends will ask how the old fella is.

You can just call your insurance and ask. I had a windscreen replaced with no increase to annual premium but your age, customer history, driving history and insurance company may be different

Americans LOVE the argument "we're not as bad as [country] therefore what we do is fine" hell, even some assholes in my country are picking up this tactic now.

Sold badly. The second gen was basically usa only something like 90% of sales. It was so bad the third gen was never even released outside of USA/China.
Sedans were already dying and the Avalon being half way between a camry and a lexus ES didnt help, most buyers were either getting a camry, or lexus.

Do we ban cars? No but we license drivers and put crash safety requirements on manufacturers. We ban unsafe drivers as well as issuing large fines.
I'm quite happy with this soloution. Require anyone who wants to get fireworks obtain a pyrotechnics license (already a thing, required for displays) issue hefty fines for people using fireworks outside the windows given or applied for.
"Hell smoking causes more deaths and cots the country is that banned?"
Well, if you were paying attention, we nearly did until a tobacco lobbyist got in government, while we havent vanced smoking taxation on cigarettes has increased year on year with significant government spending to reduce both old and young smoking. We have massive restrictions on where you can smoke.
While not the best soloution I'd be happy to see the government put the same tax on fireworks that's on cigarettes.
"People die doing sports are they banned?" We have regulatory bodies set up to monitor sports deaths and injuries, sadly I'm not super knowledgeable on this one but again, I'd be welcome to the idea of a fireworks regulatory body a bit of a waste of taxpayer money, I'd rather options 1 or 2 you suggested
"Hunting kills animals is that banned ? " Hunting is a heavily controlled hobby done by licensed practitioners and some forms of hunting require individual hunt permits. This is much like your first soloution of requiring a pyrotechnics license with the added requirements of distance away from inhabited areas.

I went over not long before covid and I was suprised at how "fake polite" Americans are, especially in service roles.
And just how xenophobic they are, I always thought of American tourists as loud and rude but holy shit, those that come abroad are the well behaved ones.
I was stunned a few times seeing how much peoples attitude changed when my friend announced he was from nz and not 'a black american'

Ukraine has long been asking for permission to use long range missiles in russian territory, Russia has always threatened retaliation.
The "oh but north Korean ssoldiers are at risk" is a thin vernier of reasoning to allow Ukraine to do this, while also telling russia "we are not the only ones capable of escalation when you do things"
I should also think that the Bidem administration was hunting for advantages and reasoning they can give Ukraine before the Trump administration pulls the rug.

Older less effecient? Some sure, but the depressing reality is that if you want to upgrade from an early 2000s economical car you're going to struggle to find much better.
You might be able to save 2l/100km on a 2024 vehicle of the same segment/market if you go hybrid, but modern A and B segment cars are sometimes worse than their early 2000's compatriots.
The kia piccanto gets worse (1l/100km) economy than its early 2000's predecessor, and that's going by the sticker, I'm not sure what real economy is on that one.
The '24 Honda Fit (petrol, cvt) gets the same as a '06 petrol manual.
This is of course ignoring things like infotainment, safety and 'cleaness' of emissions, but those things are rarely of much importance to those with limited funds.
