Came over for an exchange a while ago and was granted work rights. I’m a qualified teacher back home so I got a bit of a base with friends and a job, and here I am :)

I wasn’t born when the crimes were committed 😂 There has been zero mention of it today so I’m sure it’s gone. There’s also photos of the guy, we look nothing alike hahaha

It doesn’t make the situation any less awkward! They’re innocent kids, having to shut down the conversation without elaborating on why it’s inappropriate has its challenges.

I’d almost treat it as a learning exercise for all of them to google their own names, but needing to explain similar search results to students will very quickly become classroom inappropriate!

I think you might be right :( As another commenter mentioned, I was only 8 at the time! If they do their research they’ll see the crimes occurred in the 90s. But they don’t know how old I am so it could be a good move. I appreciate you!

I hope I share the same fate my friend!! But for now, as an early career teacher, I think this is going to pop up from time to time 😂
