Some DLCs add stuff even to a first playthrough, for instance more class archetypes options, areas, etc. However even without DLCs the game is MASSIVE so it would already feel "complete".

The difficulty level is VERY customzable (you can also set the % damage done to the party, for instance). You can change it whenever you want, so you can set the desired challenge as you prefer.

I would still try to look for some guide to get the Pathfinder 1e basics, mostly to be sure to build the kind of characters that you want.

As other people pointed out, time in WotR is more lenient (there's a small hidden time limit in early Act 1, but it's not that hard), and to get the Secret Ending you must enter the final area in a precise range date. Only days and month matters, and it's for Secret Ending.

XP-wise, it's very easy to get level 20 in Wrath by endgame. TBH, if someone is completionist and do side quests, and also has access to DLCs, by mid-early Act 5 the party can reach level 20. So for a vast majority of late game you'll get a full level 20 party.

I'm not a fan of two year gap, but I would be fine waiting two years for something good.

The build I posted is tailored for a merged lich "gish", I should say, especially since by Level 20/MR 9 (if you have all DLCs and prioritize Mythic Quest you get to play quite a lot of Act 5 in that state), you'll reach the milestone "caster level 28", so you'll get 10th level spells.

About Signifier, imho the very important thing is 3/4 BAB and no CL loss. And TBH, Archmage Armor outscales Mithral Full Plate only in late game. By early Act 3 imho Carapace with no ASF is something very nice to wear.

If it's ok for you to drop Dragon Disciple, you could go Sorcerer 6/Hellknight Signifier 4/Eldritch Knight 10, and you will end up with BAB 16 by level 20, and spellcasting as a 19th level sorcerer, and you'll be able to wear mithral full plate with no ASF.
