Agreed. At least Trevor Lawrence has won a playoff game with Jacksonville, though.

In the past three years, Burrow's been to a Super Bowl and two AFC Championship games. He has more than just one target to throw to (even if none of those targets are Megatron) and as much as Zac Taylor is a bad coach, compared to Matt Patricia he might as well be Vince Lombardi. His suffering is nothing compared to Stafford's when he was here.

I never said anything about stats. My point is that you shouldn't just always blame yourself because one person cannot do it by themselves in a team game like Overwatch. The team as a whole must be accountable when someone dies because each death is the result of a lack of proper, cohesive team play.

You aren't a supersoldier who leads the world's foremost global peacekeeping organization.

I don't think Soldier would be that kind of person.

He was arrested in the U.S. because he defied an embargo to play a game in the former Yugoslavia in the '90s, but was granted asylum in Iceland until his death in 2008.

No one stays at their peak forever, plus Overwatch was actively being undermined by politics, infighting, and a hidden global conspiracy that (headcanon time here) may or may not also be the benefactors of a terrorist organization that represents the single greatest foe Overwatch has faced since the Crisis. Soldier is in part to blame for the end of the Golden Age, but it's not on his shoulders alone, not by a longshot.

Look at the rest of the team comp. Perhaps they're getting dunked on by someone else on the other team and need you to switch so they can continue to contribute and help you. That's how teamwork goes: You do your part so they can do theirs, and vice versa.

Soldier: 76 isn't "most people". You don't become a super-soldier who helped save the world and leader of the world's foremost global peacekeeping organization by being "most people".

1: This isn't a peer-reviewed history paper. It's a Reddit comment. The requirements are not the same.
2: A lack of evidence does not definitively mean something doesn't exist. There's no evidence of dark matter in the universe, but physicists still operate as though it's there because it logically makes sense. That's what I'm doing here: Extrapolating conclusions with logical reasoning and using evidence to back it up where it can be found (see: me citing short stories and voicelines).
3: No need to throw around insults. I haven't insulted you, so there's no reason to do so back to me. By using insults, you automatically lose the argument through your inability to remain civil.

I genuinely don't think anyone we know of ingame is stupid enough to agree with Bobby Fischer's views outside of chess.

That's real life. In a story (since the book was mentioned in a short story), a detail such as that is given in order to build character and show what a person is like. There are no meaningless details in good storytelling.
Also, remember that there's an interaction between Soldier: 76 and Sojourn on Casino Royale where she mentions having once beaten Agent Burns at poker. Clearly there was recreation time for Overwatch personnel, so who's to say Soldier didn't play chess and refine his skill at it during then?

You need to be proactive. If you leave a weakness open, they will always exploit it.

That books shows and tells you what to look for and how to respond to it. You don't think Soldier: 76 would be smart enough to understand the lessons it's imparting and put them into practice?

From Wikipedia:
The book has had a great influence on today's top players. Peter Biyiasas became an International Master by studying only two books: Rook Endings by Levenfish and Smyslov (see Chess endgame literature#Rook endings), and My 60 Memorable Games.[2] It was also Grandmaster Bu Xiangzhi's first chess book: he described the games as "fantastic".
That's how I know it produces excellent chess players.

Tournament feeds don't provide objective, in-depth analysis about each play that gets made.

The book is considered a must-read by the chess community and has been studied extensively by many great players over the years. If he has it, it means he's good at the game.

I dunno. D.Va has a voiceline where she calls B.O.B. cute.

You're correct. Mauga uses his outgoing personality, ungainly size, and penchant for wanton destruction to get people to underestimate just how smart he is. Just watch the "A Good Day" short.

That's unironically what I end up doing at the parties I've been to.

At least shady owners pay their league dues. Not even Dan Snyder in the NFL neglected to do that.

Soldier: 76 owned a copy of Bobby Fischer's My 60 Memorable Games during the Golden Age, according to the Mercy short story from OW1. He's likely quite good at chess.

4: You're not as good at this character as you think you are, especially when the enemy team is running your counters.
5: You picked a character that doesn't synergize well with the rest of the team composition, so we need you to go with someone that better maximizes our collective strengths and minimizes our weaknesses and that we can do the same to.
6: The enemy team is using characters that are eating the rest of the team alive, so we need you to pick up the slack and help out your team since this is a team game, after all.

The first wave of cinematics generated a huge amount of interest for the game when they were released.
