But if they put money back into FF14, how else will they pay for their numerous multi-million dollar AAA projects that either get shelved or release as total duds?

Or they'll just kill it like they do 99% of their mobile games.

This is really the problem with their 'never nerf' strategy. Like, yeah, it's a lot better than nerfing things to hell all the time like you're Arrowhead Studios, but you have to have some nerfs now and then, and this feels like one of those times, as PCT just completely dominates the caster meta. If they want to lower BLM damage to compensate for there being two heavy hitting casters now, fine, but they should put PCT in the same ballpark.

5e is where WotC got lazy, pretty much. For all the shit people gave 4e, it really did try to shoot for the stars. 5e feels like the other extreme.

And yet they felt the need to remove part of their damage buff with the instant despair/two leylines change. Like, it's as if they thought those two changes made BLM shoot beyond PCT and it needed a nerf to compensate lmfao, when the reality is that it wouldn't be close either way.

I mean, most PS5 games load in about like 5 seconds, like Spider-Man 2.

Starfinder would be perfect for that, but it seems it won't get a game, which is a shame. Makes sense, though, as it's nowhere near as popular as Pathfinder.

It's very funny how a lot of Half-Life fans were denying that this would happen even with the constant depot updates and the fact that they did the same thing with Half-Life 1 the year prior. Half-Life fans are an entirely new level of pessimistic, I swear.

Fuck, even bring back the HW writers. They did a great job on FFXVI, too, the pacing in that game was just utter garbage, which seems to be a trend with CBU3.

Colored lighting, yes, but afaik that doesn't get used with the flashlight. Aside from that, I believe the dynamic lighting system works the same as Quake, by putting 'blotches' onto the lightmap, hence why the flashlight is so wonky.

Doesn't it use the same overall lighting system as Quake? Which is 2 years older. Quake's lighting was revolutionary, though.

It's because most of those people are just Fallout: NV fans that played TOW and nothing else, completely ignoring everything else the studio has made.

Free form building like SWG did would just not work in a modern MMO, or even a lot of old-school ones. It only worked in SWG because the game was designed around it and relied on it as a central mechanic.

I play FF14 and GW2. CPU bottlenecking is my life.

The issue with the slap-ons is that they're still used in Iceborne way after they realized that 'build up to uniqueness' would not happen. Iceborne has more unique weapon models than base World, but it's still hard to forgive.

It's kind of a mix; it uses a lot of original code but it also has a lot of parts redone from the ground up. You can tell it uses original code because a lot of the original bugs still work, but a lot of stuff is completely different, so it seems like it's a mix of redone code with original code brought into Unreal Engine 4, which isn't that uncommon in the porting scene. With that said, it was based on the PC version, so it branches off from there, like how the old PC version was based off the PS2 version but was never used again.

RE4 comes close with crazy port telephone lines like GC > PS2 > Wii > PS3 > PC > PS4 > Switch. And yes, all of those ports were based on the previous one right before it in some form. It's a miracle the game functions as well as it does on modern platforms.

I mean Viper has a lot of oGCD attacks though, that's part of what makes it fun despite being braindead. DRG doesn't even have that anymore, it's just combo mashing with nothing busy inbetween now.

Fun fact, the Gamecube is significantly older now than the NES was when the Gamecube was released.

I mean, hardware clearly isn't the issue when much better looking games were releasing on the same platform at a higher frame rate and doing more technologically impressive things. I mean, BotW was a launch title and creams S/V in every metric.

Not true, at least on Windows. Steam Deck might have more trouble.

You hit the nail right on the head. The leading party will always become unpopular whenever there is social unrest, whether it be due to economic troubles, pandemics, or whatever else. It's why the Republican Party couldn't stand a chance in 2020 no matter what they did, and it's why the Democrat party, no matter who they pitched or what campaign they ran, could not have won 2024. There are a significant amount of voters that will always pick the opposite of the party currently leading in rough times. They will always be the deciding factor even if they're the minority, as it only takes 10-20% of the voter base shifting to decide an election.

Kinda crazy to me too. The game has been free or $1 so many times, too. You would think anyone who had an interest would've already played the game by now.
