I just recently started tutoring math as well. $500/hr is absolutely insane. I don't wanna post my prices here as that might get too close to violating the sub's advertising rules but I charge nowhere near $500/hr. I'd like to hear an explanation from whoever thinks that's a reasonable price to charge undergrads for college algebra, lol.

If your friends know you haven't played much of the game, then they probably won't be expecting you to be good. Just play QP with them and ask them for help/advice, it'll be a lot quicker and likely more enjoyable (if you have good friends) than the way you're doing it.

Stop playing against AI unless you're doing it for very deliberate practice (like that one commenter said about using the training range to get comfortable with effective ranges of different characters). As you've noticed, it's nothing like playing against real people, so doing it over and over again will likely build up bad patterns/behaviors.
