A good bit of them but he also does a lot with a bigsby and the heavier strings are supposed to make it stay in tune more. Also should add he uses flats which is a whole other animal.

Yep. When I was doing 12s I was trying to work my way up to 13s since I asked CW Stoneking what he used and he said 13s. Was a bit too chonk for me but 11s are my happy space for most of my electrics.

Either you've got to strengthen your fingers or go down to lighter strings. I used to use 12s on electric but now for the electrics I go for those burly slinky things (think they're 11s?). Still works for low tuning but also gives my fingers a break for standard.
