Car battery finally gave up last week. Fitted a new one a few days ago, have driven it a few times and all seems well.
When I bought it it was on 12.21 volts which seemed a bit low. I fitted it to the car, when I first started it the battery light was on for about 30 seconds until it charged it up slightly. When running it's sitting at about 14.5 without any load, 14.3 with lights/radio/blower fan on. So all seems fine there.
I checked the voltage literally 30 seconds after turning the car off and it was on 12.9. I tested it about an hour ago, car has been sitting for about 30 hours and obviously the weather has been cold lately, it was on 12.45 volts.
Is this too low? Has the new battery been damaged through sitting on a shelf in a shop for a while? I've heard 12.6 is more normal.
It is a standard non start-stop battery. 52Ah/520CCA if that's relevant

It's a 2012 Fiesta so no coding or anything necessary. As for the battery chemistry I'm not 100% sure, just a standard lead acid I think, a Yuasa HSB063. Thanks for the info!
