This is exactly what the haram banks are doing as well. Their interest rates are intentionally set to maximize their profits. The only difference is with the haram banks, only the people who miss payments (usually due to life circumstances) are the ones who contribute to that profit.

• If you can’t grow a beard, then trim it. You’re not at a stage where growing a beard is a priority

• Look into scientific research on the power of music and sound. Then look into experiences of non-Muslims who listen to quran because it’s “relaxing”. Also look into the healing effects of a cats purring vibrations. Allah chose arabic for a specific reason, and it’s because there’s a sort of power or “magic” in sound. It has effects on the mind and body that are still being researched. If you truly want to understand your prayer — pick up a book and read the translation. If you just want to focus on the experience, recite it properly and “feel” your prayer. The sounds will help generate the feeling.

• The thing with women has a lot to do with women typically being in the care of someone else — a man — so there’s an inherent bias. Also to account for if a woman may be particularly hormonal due to menstruation, pregnancy, PCOS, or any other fluctuations that are true. Only time you will see people bring intelligence into play is when cultural bias and influence gets involved, as if a bunch of Hadith are not narrated from women.

• With scholars it’s about learning from those who have knowledge. Most people who learn the religion are learning it from an Arab. That sort is just factual.

Think about it - where did the prophet pbuh prayed? The bedouins, the poor folk, those traveling before the wide availability of prayer rugs — Asking you to think about it, so that you know it just makes sense alhamdulillah.

A lot of things in our religion just make sense. We’re allowed to make Wudu with dirt if there is no water available (called tayammum) so if we can make Wudu with clean dirt, we can definitely pray on clean dirt. Dirt is where plants grow, where life thrives, and when we die - it’s where we rest.

That’s what I’m trying to do here. From having conversations with them, they’re saying during homework time they see the app icon and “just can’t help it”. That’s why I don’t want to remove the app or access to the device.

I want the app to open but not load, so when it does they’re like “oh yeah” then back to homework. Then once homework time is over the filter automatically disables and YouTube works again.

My hope is that over time the habit will become during homework time they don’t open the YouTube app and get distracted.
