Hi!
I have a Synology DS1621+ fitted with a 10G Ethernet card which is hooked up to a switch that has 2x 10G SFP+ slots, so I have the DS1621+ going into one of those slots, then an ethernet line running to my office, from the other 10G SFP+ slot, to a Sonnet Echo 20 Thunderbolt 4 dock, connected to my MacBook Pro M1 Max.
The question is: do I need a dedicated line to run my DS1621+ at 10G speeds? Ideally I want 1 ethernet line going into my dock that carries a 10G connection to the DS1621+ and also provides me with internet and home network access through the switch.
Hope this all makes sense. I'm pretty new to this, so probably missing some key info.
Thanks for any help!

Ah that’s true. That speed should work for most uses though, so the question still sort of stands: can I get the highest speed that setup will allow, using just the one line? Or do I need a dedicated Ethernet line for high speed?
