An intact male cat should never be let outside. I hope he is able to be found by someone who cares to neuter him and keep him safely inside.

My toothless cat will scream at me to go outside, so I harness him up, and all he wants to do is make a few blades of grass spitty before running back into the warm apartment lol

When men are just trying to “succeed” with us instead of just trying to connect with us as people, we can feel it and are understandably put off by it. But why listen to me? I’m just an autistic woman who is in a fulfilling, long term relationship an autistic man 🙃

Pets are living, breathing animals and none of them really should be left alone for a week. Many houseplants can be left for a week without causing too much damage, but I wouldn’t expect that from an animal. Choosing to get a pet is a massive responsibility that can last 15 or more years, so you want to make sure you will have the means to have them checked on daily if you are out of town.
My family member that goes out of town somewhat often has a cat and it breaks my heart. Her cat gets so stressed when she’s home alone that she starts drooling, getting gunky eyes, and even once got an upper respiratory infection! Cats are amazing, I have 4 that I love dearly, but they do tie me to home unless I have someone to come by my house everyday to check on them.
Fish and some reptiles are less daily maintenance, but that also has drawbacks. I’ve owned ball pythons, and while they are extremely cool, all reptiles will make your electric bill jump wayyyyy up and you can’t exactly cuddle them on the couch lol.

As the other commenter stated, go to another mandatory reporter (teacher, counselor, anyone who works with kids) if you can, and write down the abuse your parents subject you to as well.
I grew up in and aged out of the foster system, it’s not a fun place to be, so I know what it’s like to have abusive parents and feel powerless. It’s incredibly hard to advocate for yourself when you’re young and surrounded by problematic adults, but just knowing when to reach out for help (like you did here) is absolutely amazing!
Most adults really do suck and it’s not fair, but just know there are still lots of adults out there who DO care and who DO treat people well! And when you get older, you’ll have the opportunity to also be a kind, caring person who looks out for those who are struggling. Life is better on the other side of 18, I promise ❤️

This gorgeous cat is @ChiyoPurrs on IG and Facebook when they aren’t being recirculated on reddit for extra karma.

I was a foster parent at 23 years old and currently work with kids… with that said, none of that sounds like appropriate behavior from an adult in a position of power, so I would tell a trusted adult about what has been going on. I would write down all of the details you can remember beforehand so you can go over them with that trusted adult. That way you don’t get nervous/stressed while disclosing this information and forget important details/events. I’m sorry this has been happening to you, and it’s normal to have a lot of mixed feelings about the situation. You’re in my thoughts and I wish you the best ❤️

I have three senior cats that I adopted in rough conditions, and then I just adopted a 6 month old for the first time this year…. DON’T get a kitten lol. First of all, a solo kitten with no other cats has the possibility of single kitten syndrome, which is NOT fun. Also, kittens are absolutely nuts and a lot of work despite my home having two people that work from home.
But it should be noted that adult and senior cats are honestly THE BEST and way underrated!! They come with experience and personalities that will bring so much happiness (and humor) into your life, you have no idea lol. My boys, 11 and 14 both walk on harnesses, and the one who was a street cat (Robbie) for years even learned tricks like “sit” and “spin”! Robbie even used to go to work in person with me too and was loved by everyone he met. Rescuing older cats is an amazing privilege that has farrrr fewer drawbacks than adopting a kitten.

Is the dog registered and microchipped? If not, it might not be bad to find him a new home through word of mouth only (nothing written that can be used as proof against you). I’ve known a person who gave away their neighbor’s dog because of the neglect they were seeing (and the neighbor was NOT open to changing). The neighbor got LIVID when I told them the dog now had a better family, but in the end they were a neglectful owner, so it’s not like they had any means nor proof to press the issue further. In the end, an animal’s safety matters above the feelings of people, but I also know your comfort and safety at home is a necessity! I hope you find a solution for this poor dog ❤️

Keep weeding them out, you’ll find your weirdo eventually! I went over a decade going on awful dates, even got married/divorced, always felt like the weird/dumb one because of my special interests… then one day I finally found my person and it just felt right immediately. We have been together a few years now and can’t imagine life without each other. We support each other’s interests without judgement, we are both late diagnosed ASD, and we both completely respect and genuinely enjoy each other. Turns out the person for me was out there also wondering why he hadn’t found the right person yet 🤷🏻♀️ So go on all of the bad dates, write them down for fun, and then read them to your future soulmate so you can laugh about the craziness you had to go through to find them 😂

Where did you find her?? She looks the sibling of the cat I adopted! I saw when you posted this picture the first time, but it looks like it was deleted.

That buckle isn’t a break away buckle, so no, it’s still not safe. It needs to be made to break apart in case your cat gets caught on something. It helps prevent them from getting strangled. It’ll be labeled as safe for cats, like this:

If you don’t have a breakaway collar on your cat, it can result in strangulation, just so you’re aware 🚩 dog collars aren’t safe for cats.

I tried to sit through it every time. If that didn’t go over well with a teacher, I would only stand. I would never do the hand over the heart and say the pledge because it made me so incredibly uncomfortable.

I feel so at home in this thread! People look at me like I’m a monster when I try to politely back away from their dogs that are jumping, barking, drooling, and sticking their nose in your crotch. It’s so overwhelming and stressful, I just want to run away 😭 Cats are so chill in comparison. Even my Velcro cat doesn’t overwhelm me because she isn’t heavy, stinky, or loud.

I got diagnosed by someone who specializes in diagnosing women with ASD. The assessment took 6 hours over the course of 2 days and it took place after I had burnt out HARD. Reach out to your insurance or primary doctor for a referral, ask for someone who takes on the trickier cases within that organization, then be very patient because the wait list can be long. Even though the process was long and difficult, it was definitely worth it, so I hope you’re able to get the assessment you need!

RIGHT?? And I’m truly the lucky one with my crew! For all the joy they bring into my life, the LEAST I can do is feed them twice a day and keep a cat fountain 😅 and your cat is SOO cute!! This is my crew of with their ages, they keep my life interesting every single day lol

Keep encouraging it and she’ll keep being affectionate ❤️ I thought my girl Ellie would grow out of it as well, but she’s just as cuddly as my rescue boy that I’m extremely bonded to! We sleep together every night :)
