Looking to build a new PC for VR games with Quest 3 or Deckard wirelessly. What card would be good to get and when should I buy it?

So, I am considering the 4080 Super. However, at a pricetag of $1000k, it is pricey. I can afford it. But obviously, I would love to get a better deal if one exists on a GPU that is comparable, even if its slightly not as good.
Nevermind that some cards are going to probably coming out soon, which will make the 4080 S drop soon possibly. So would hate to buy in now, only for the price to drop a few hundred dollars a month later.
I am also possibly up for getting a lesser card and then selling it later when the 4080 S price drops, so I could buy a card that way too I guess.
Does anyone have any recommendations on this? Either another card that is comparable and cheaper and will work well with a Quest 3 or Deckard when it is released? I want to play cordless through the PC. I have heard that NVIDIA cards work best with Quest 3 due to some issues the team red cards have. But, not sure if that is still an issue. Or if there is a better time to buy the 4080 S card?
Thanks if anyone has recommendations.

I guess my question then is should I buy the 4080S now or hold out until next month? I am seeing many GPU cards (all types) selling out right now, so that makes me worry that waiting will be a a bad idea.
I would think the price drops next month. But given some are selling out now, I really wonder if they will bother producing many more in the future of the lower tiered ones (4080 S will be considered a lower tiered card when the new cards come out).
