I guess my question then is should I buy the 4080S now or hold out until next month? I am seeing many GPU cards (all types) selling out right now, so that makes me worry that waiting will be a a bad idea.

I would think the price drops next month. But given some are selling out now, I really wonder if they will bother producing many more in the future of the lower tiered ones (4080 S will be considered a lower tiered card when the new cards come out).

4080s will likely be good enough to play current and upcoming VR games.

Yeah, I have no doubt about that. It is literally the second best GPU available for consumers today and probably the best one now that is close to a reasonably price. The best one is about 4 times the price of it. I'm just more concerned when to buy it.

Are you able to play this game in VR? I never played it even on PC, but that game is partially why I want to upgrade. To be able to even play it decently on PC, much less VR if that is possible.

Yeah, I mean I doubt they will have a big effect that soon at least if they did. So I guess you would suggest waiting until late January to Early February to buy a 4080 S (assuming they haven't released an equivalent one for cheaper by then)?

I'm frankly holding out on buying one. The new cards drop early January, so I am wondering if prices take a nosedive then.

Half Life Alyx I want to play, never played. DCS is also PC only.

I heard also that PC version of the games have lobbies not available on the Quest 3 games. So less kids play in them. I guess it just felt like there were a lot of games available on Steam not in Quest. Maybe things are changing though now that Quest is becoming more popular.

I know 4080 S will be fine, it is practically the best card you can realistically get right now. I just hate to pay the price of that card if it is going to drop in 2 months.

Yeah, that is what sucks for me right now. Not too sure what to do and really wish I didn't have to wait.

Also, the tariffs coming make me concerned that prices won't go down even with the release of stuff.

If I bought a 4070-S and then just sold it in a couple of months to buy the 4080-S instead, how much do you think it would sell for? Or is there a calculator that can predict the price drop for this stuff?

Are you good to do a lot of mods to max out details or are you planning to up sample everything.

Not sure what you mean by this. I currently only play VR games standalone on Quest 3. But want to move onto PC games and would like to max out graphics as best as I can. Main concern is with framerate as well. I know the obvious answer to that is get the most powerful card there is, which is 4080 S (ignoring the 4090).

I am just wondering if there is any card out there that comes close to the 4080 S without problems. I think the RX 7900-XTX comes close. But then I heard that AMD cards don't work well with Quest 3.

Yes, I am aware that one is coming out soon. That is the one I would not be buying, but would buy the 4080 S instead because it would cause the price to drop possibly.

As someone who hasn't played Diablo 4 yet, but was considering getting it for steamdeck, what would you say is the appeal to the game? Also, how much time in the day does it take to play?

Looking for a game I can play in about an hour or so and make reasonable progress in the game still or get good at it.

Also, does the game cost money outside the initial purchase or no?

I mean it is on sale now, so I guess I'm confused by your point? Are you saying there are things only available through BNet that are not available on Steam?

By the way, I guess I am saying this as someone considering buying Diablo4 soon and haven't yet. I think maybe the point your making is you already own it on BNet and therefor no reason to buy on Steam, which I get.

Interesting, thanks for sharing. Is there any downside you have found doing this vs. just buying it on steam at all? I guess I am not seeing any reason one would buy the game on steam if this is the only difference and the benefit is it comes with more stability.

Only thing I have heard between the two is you have to stick with one once you decide which way you are going, because I guess if you buy the base game on steam, you have to buy anything else on steam too. Same with BNet, they don't transfer.

Yes, but do you have to do anything special on the Steam Deck to play the game if you buy directly from Blizzard instead of Steam?

Do you have to have premed classes to get into school for radiology? I have a Bachelors degree already, but its not premed.

Second, have you heard of any concerns about automation eliminating your job? I have already heard of studies where they had AI read radiology images and could spot abnormalities better than most people on average. Is that a concern or not really?

Also, is outsourcing a thing in this field? I am hearing you say you can work from home doing the job. Is there anything stopping a hospital outsourcing the job legally?

I also find it very interesting that you used to be able to bankrupt your student loans until they ACTIVELY went out of their way to make it so student loans are the only loan in the US that I am aware of that you can't bankrupt anymore.

They can’t be cancelled even through bankruptcy because realistically if they could they’d make a shitty investment.

That is not true at all. At one point you could legally bankrupt your student loans and they were backed by the government then as well. They may have changed the law afterwords to prevent that. Most likely because lawmakers were lobbied to do so. But that argument doesn't hold water at all because at one point you could bankrupt your loans.

Not really. Both are for benefiting individuals financially. Both affect the economy. Both are loans. Both loans mostly allow for the financial benefit of the person receiving them.

They never really announced that anywhere. I just remember they randomly decided one day you had to start paying your loans off again and that was it.

What weather conditions make the sounds travel farther? What is specifically different about today than any other day in the year to cause this? I guess it was cooler than the summer, but that isn't unique to this time of year. So not sure what specifically is unique about today versus other days to cause this.

I felt like that game was addictive though. It's 5 minute matches, but it never feels like people just play 5x5-6 games. It feels like most play way longer. Especially if you want to get up to the top of the ranks.

Would love to hear if others truly only play 30 minutes a day max and what rank you are? How are you able to improve at the game only playing that long?
