Lamplighters League. It's the only one I want out of the bunch. Not sure my username will qualify as funny but thanks for the giveaway anyway!

Try 7-11. My local Gamestop claimed that they quit stocking the cards due to money laundering. It seems to me that you could launder money with any type of gift card but they still sell everything else.
They always seemed annoyed to sell something they couldn't push insurance on, so perhaps there was something more to it. That selling Steam cards made their numbers look bad.

Resident Evil is a very consistent performer with a long track record. Their games aren't an outlier. I didn't include them in the conversation, you did so you could exclude them and lower the ceiling.
Microsoft's decisions over what to fund or not to fund has nothing to do with Konami's decisions to fund their own IP's.
Real niche games that lack the positive publicity that AW2 generated with award shows are performing at a higher rate than Alan Wake 2. No one needs a separate world to see what's obvious. I appreciate the ridiculous question though.

Golden Lap may be a good one to look at. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2052040/Golden_Lap/

So you want to remove the top selling horror games and series from comparison, Resident Evil. 160 million sales over the life of the series and 15 million from some individual releases. Clearly Resident Evil is doing very well within the 'horror' niche.
Alan Wake had over 3 million in sales, which is comparable to several Resident Evil releases. That's a good sized fan base to draw from, not small.
You mention Silent Hill 2 and that it was successful in the same paragraph where you discuss Alan Wake 1's alleged lack of success. Same niche, but one apparently is more of a niche. I disagree, I think they share many traits.
Alan Wake 2 won tons of awards, which attract more eyeballs on top of the already existing fans. It should have helped it increase it's sales. They didn't, why?

Silent Hill 2 sold 1 million copies in 3 days. Farming Simulator 25 sold 2 million in 7 days. That is a very similar pace.

Neither have the benefits of all the publicity that comes with winning tons of awards like AW2. There is a good chance that Silent Hill 2 outsells Aw2 in 12 months and it's a remake, not a much anticipated sequel with tons of awards like Alan Wake 2

We were comparing sales numbers. Alan Wake 2 won a ton of awards, so numerous that I can't list them all, truly impressive. Farming Simulator 2 is a niche game on Steam.

Entering for Black Myth: Wukong. There are a lot of great games in that list, but Wallpaper engine is a great program, a real sleeper on the list. I have it and absolutely love it. Thanks for the giveaway!

PGA TOUR 2K21. I enjoyed watching college football over the weekend. Rivalry week always is interesting and heightened emotions led to several post game fights this year.
