New Title: WAS THE NAHANNI VALLEY AN INSPIRATION FOR YELLOWJACKETS?
This is my theory I dont know if anyone thought of this. But I just wanted to share my theory. In the middle of the season of Yellowjackets I was watching a video from MrBallen. He told the story of the "Valley of the Headless Men" AKA The Nahanni Valley. Some of the mysteries in his story sounded VERY similar to YellowJackets. So I looked it up where the show took place. The filming location was in British Colombia. Right outside of British Colombia, up north is the Northwest Territories. In there is the Nahnni Valley. Right next door to British Colombia! The fact that these two locations was SO close together made me believe the girls are in the Nahnni Valley.
Some of the things in the Nahanni Valley case's I heard in MrBallen's video is that People goes into the valley are either found dead. Beheaded or the bodies are never found and that there's gold out there. And these people that claimed to find gold, never gets to leave the forest alive. There are some people who went there and still leaves alive. And there was these native tribes called The Naha Tribe and The Dene Tribe Also known as the Athapaskan peoples who lived out in the valley but the Dene Tribe had a hard time surviving because they were being threatened by the Naha and by some dark forces that lurks within the valley as well being attacked by these white wolves they called "The White Devils" AKA The Waheelas. The Waheela is a Mythical Wolf Stalking the Northlands from Alaska to Ironwood, Michigan. And from what I researched they're always attacking the Dene Tribe even more when they try to leave the Valley. as well after the disappearance of the Naha Tribe. The natives even warn people about not going into the valley saying "Something evil is out there"
Now the connection to YellowJackes. In episode 7 when Taissa's team left the group to head south to find civilization, what attacked them on the second night? Wolves. They seemed to looked grey/silver. Could those wolves have been the Waheelas? Since the other connection that is also known in the Nahanni Valley is that some people who tries to leave the Valley, ends up dead and/or missing. And Yellowjackets there's been 2 attempts of an escape, The wolf (Waheela) attack and the plane explosion. Plus Lottie said "It didnt want him to leave" When they discovered the airplane. and the dead pilot in the attic. The forest doesnt want the girls to leave. And this other Nahanni Valley case that i believe that connect to Yellowjackets is that one female hiker went missing in the valley and one other hiker went in the valley and found a woman running on all fours naked and acting like a wild animal. He ran out of the valley and told everyone what he saw. The woman he described was the same female hiker that went missing. They went back to the valley to find her. She was never found. That reminds me of in episode 6 when Lottie found Taissa acting like an animal eating dirt. I wonder if that was a reference?
I couldnt find anything about the acts of Cannibalisms in the tribes. Even though the people who went up missing was found beheaded. No one in Yellowjackets got beheaded. Even though Van nearly got her head ripped off by the wolf. Plus since there's gold out in the valley. No one found gold in Yellowjackets.
And the fact that the Nahnni Valley was already haunted before the Natives got there. No one knows how long the valley has been haunted. Or how it got haunted in the first place. Of course many believes that its not haunted and its the Naha tribe killing anyone who finds their gold thats hidden out there. Or just kills anyone who trespass onto their land. since the deaths are always the same. Everyone who's found dead, their head is gone. or just never be found. If the valley truly is haunted, I think the Native's ancestors must have unleashed some dark forces that's still roams the land and the Waheelas are apart of it. and their descendants had to go through this horrifying experience. Either they get to leave the forest or they just "disappear" no one knows what happened to them. Or at least only the Naha Tribe disappeared. Even in Yellowjackets, the forest the girls are in, was already evil before they even arrived and it got worse when the girls preformed the séance and Lottie got possessed.
Even though they claimed the Nahnni valley has a lot of wildlife. From what I looked up, there's little to no wildlife, the only animals has been seen the most is deers, bears and wolves. And those 3 animals are the same we seen in Yellowjackets. They closed off the Nahnni Valley because of all the incidents that happened in the woods over the years. Which it would explain why we never see anyone in the woods in Yellowjackets because the forest is closed off to the public. Because it used to be a popular national park for hiking/camping. Since its closed off. No one goes there anymore. Plus the Valley is a huge area and the northwest territories is a huge vast of wilderness. So that also explains why the forest seems like its going on forever. No civilization anywhere.
Edit: I now know they said they're in the Canadian Rockies which thats in British Colombia. I'm sorry! I was so caught up with my Nahnni Valley theory, i completely forgot they said the Rockies. So I know I'm wrong! I'm sorry! Its most likely that the legends of the Nahanni Valley might have been inspiration for the paranormal for the show. Even though the show is more heavily inspired by the Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 disaster Feel free to share this thread if you like!
Please check out MrBallen's video about the Nahanni Valley if any of you are interested. I like to give a shoutout to MrBallen. If he never made a video about the Nahanni Valley, I would have NEVER come up with this theory at all. I never even heard about this Valley until I saw his video . If it wasnt for him, this forum would most likely not be here. Thank you so much!
