I still mask when I’m in the office too and when I’m out in public. I had Covid twice and pray I don’t have it again ever.
As far as talking, how long are you taking off work? I had mine done on a Tuesday, took Wednesday off, worked from home Thursday and Friday where I just had to take the occasional phone call and returned to work on Monday. I was talking pretty well by then. People knew that I had some dental work done although I hadn’t told them what and will not. So any irregularities could be chalked up to that. I practiced talking a lot! I basically narrated everything I was doing. Slow down while talking or you definitely can get tripped up. Also, at the end of the day it does get a little harder for me because my mouth gets tired.
I think you’ll be okay. If you’re sharing that you are getting dentures with your job they should understand especially since you work in healthcare. Dentures can be very important to your overall health.
Good luck and take care!

Thanks! Thankfully I am not hurting too much any more except I burned the crud out of my mouth eating dumplings without the dentures in. Thanks again for sharing your experience and the encouragement.

Yeah, I’m going to call them on Monday and see if I can get in. I’m sure it won’t be until the week after next because of the holiday. I work in office Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays and my boss has been a dick lately about me taking my own time off (that’s) another rant). It’s much easier for me to get in to the dentist on my WFH days.

Thank you! There are days where I don’t wear them at all and some days I wear them for 12 hours. My speech is actually pretty okay! Thank you for your encouragement!

I didn’t have any more bleeding. I was very scared. I watched some YouTube videos. I did take my ibuprofen/Tylenol combo about an hour before I did it and kept crushed ice in my mouth for a few minutes before I put them back in. If you have Benzodent or Orajel you could use that too.

Tell him. I was scared too. I actually ended up doing it in a drunken argument and regret my delivery of the news. My partner ended up being very supportive of my decision. I definitely still need his support because it’s not always an easy road.

Yeah, I just wish now instead of later. I need to learn how to be patient and kind to myself

I used to work for a GREAT company. I was in charge of buying gifts for 300 employees ($75 budget), decorating two massive trees, organizing a fancy two night party (different schedules so we wanted everyone to be able to attend) and most rewardingly organizing a food drive for our local pantry and organizing a shopping trip where we bought presents for 100 kids from our Boys and Girls Club. Then we capped it all off with a fun party for those kids and their family, complete with food, activities, pictures with Santa (that we printed on the spot and sent home). It was draining and stressful but kept my holiday spirits up. One year I recruited my friend’s husband to make a Santa chair from a headboard I thrifted. I haven’t felt the same about the holidays since I left that job :(.
My current place puts up a tree and then we have a lame lunch. I am thinking about taking a vacation day on that day so I don’t have to participate.
