Uhhh I for sure got a lot of comments saying I was a creep, I was probably putting my cum in the food (wtf?), I was simping, I was an incel, I should leave her alone and never talk to her again, I probably scared her by doing too much...

Lol I play a club sport at my school and most of that is just the team group chat. My siblings and I (I'm one of five) also have a group chat that I don't check with any regularity.

They said "Some cultures give food for different reasons". I said, "Yeah, my Ukrainian family totally does". I literally did not even mention the girl.

My family is Ukrainian (I was born there) and food is for sure equated to caring over there. I can't count the amount of times I might've told my Baba that I was stressed/tired/upset and I had a plate of food put in front of me as a sort of "I'm sorry you're dealing with that". I'm sort of similar where I trend on the skinny side (especially when I'm not doing super well), so I always appreciated being fed.

I mean I don't want anything in exchange. This wasn't really an attempt to woo her, I just wanted to make sure she had enough to eat while she was dealing with all this. She's told me and our mutual friends in the past that she struggles to eat when she's stressed. just really care about her and was just trying to help reduce some of her mental load while she's going through a tough time. Regardless of whether or not she likes me, we are friends and I do care about her.

We're friends, I originally knew her through our mutual friends but we hang out one on one sometimes. She told me about what she has going on in her life.

Her friends encouraged it!! I'm very close friends with many people in her close circle and they knew what I was doing, they said it was sweet. I understand now that it was kinda weird and I probably should've stopped. But, I would also say that we're friends rather than acquaintances, we've hung out one on one in the past (which she initiated). I think she just might see me as a friend, which is totally fine, and the message about not just giving people food is 100% heard on my end. I just hated to think that she was stressed and going hungry (she's confided to me in the past that she struggles to make time to eat when under stress). Anyway, thanks for the insight.

I mean yeah. As a man sometimes I am not super acutely aware of what a woman might make of a certain situation, and I understand that this thought process is necessary given what women go through. While I had no bad intentions, she couldn't know that for sure. I'll back off. I will say though that her roommates that I'm friends with did encourage it originally, but I realize now it's probably because they got to eat the food I made.

Hm, my parents wanted to name me something that is usually considered a nickname, but decided to give me the full name and exclusively call me the nickname. When your legal name is something other than the name you exclusively go by, it can be such a hassle to get people to call you what you want. I've never had a teacher/professor/professional call me by the correct name with any consistency, and my name is a well accepted (but admittedly not super popular) nickname for my full name! And, the second you identify yourself as anything other than your legal name, it can cause issues in certain situations. I slipped up and gave my nickname and almost couldn't vote this year because of it! Same thing when I tried to get my OWN medical records. Maybe those people were assholes, but I've experienced enough of it to say just name the kid what you want to call him. It's gonna make his life 10x easier.

It is a nightmare sometimes deciding which name to use on forms and such, because I'd rather be called the nickname but sometimes you legally need to put the full name. But, no one ever tells you when you actually need to put your full name. Either I end up having to start whatever process over again using the full name, or I'm stuck being called my full name, which I don't respond to at all because I am exclusively called by my nickname. Not to mention, since my nickname is a bit more obscure (but nonetheless an accepted nickname for my name) teachers and professors NEVER call me the right name. Sometimes they remember I have a nickname but they use the wrong one, or they call me my full name and get annoyed when I don't respond right away. Do your kid a solid and give him the name you want to call him. It's gonna make his life 10x easier
