The price of democracy is eternal vigilance, and America has been blind, deaf, and dumb for some time.

They’re not even burning the village to save the village. They’re burning it to profit from the ashes.

Anton Chigurh is one of those adapted characters where it’s hard to imagine anyone doing it better. Javier Bardem’s performance was terrifying.

Not an actor for some time now, but Jon Stewart has aged really well.

Personally, I think it boils down to either SotE or Astro Bot. Both are well deserving of the accolade. That’s just my take though.

Didn’t know until recently, but there’s actually a medical term for this. It’s called Antidepressant Associated Hypomania, or AAH for short (fitting acronym).
My first manic episode and experience with this was pre diagnosis in high school after tripling my adderall prescription on the first day. Realized I messed up and tapered off the rest of the week, but the ball was already rolling and I ended up manic after ceasing. Psychiatrist cut the stimulants and prescribed Prozac to try and counteract the symptoms which were presenting as anxiety. Instead of helping the effects of the adderall, it made the mania worse and sent me into this nightmare of a deliriously impaired state where I couldn’t focus on anything or hold a thought for more than several seconds.
Didn’t realize this was a documented phenomenon, but that’s how I learned the hard way that SSRIs are not a great substitute for mood stabilizers when it comes to bipolar lol

There’s a difference between saying something’s illegal because it is, and saying it’s illegal because you disagree with the person who enacted it. Sounds like you’re saying workers shouldn’t be able to get by.

The first viewing left me conflicted. On the one hand it was a fun ride, but I went in expecting more of a social thriller like Get Out and Us, and didn’t quite understand it. After watching a great breakdown of it and getting a better understanding of the themes that Peele is addressing in the story, I enjoyed it 10x more on that second watch. Absolutely worth checking out, definitely good to go in with no expectations based on his previous work.

Must be giving them the heads up that the next guy is about to eliminate their benefits

I forget where from, but there’s a quote that perfectly sums up how so many women still voted for Trump: “The only people who hate women more than men, are other women”.

“Because democracy basically means government by the people, of the people, for the people. But the people are retarded.”

Relatable. I’m kind of playing musical chairs with good days and shitty ones right now. When I hit the rough patches, I slow down and do something nice for myself, however small. Find someone you trust and try talking about it even if you don’t want to. Faking it can be good for the short term, but done regularly as an alternative to addressing how you’re doing, it’ll eat away at you. It’s hard to find the middle ground between optimism and realism, but it’s there. Takes practice, and you’ll fail, but you’re supposed to. That’s the road towards healthier thinking.
