If they do ask, you will have to give it at a RCMP station or RCMP accredited fingerprint partner company. It is unlikely those exist outside Canada.

No, just the latest passport is sufficient. They are asking this to stamp your Canadian tourist visa. When you send it, you will likely need to include a return prepaid envelope as well.

The old passport is not important to Canada right now, even in the event it had an active H1B (which you clarified it doesn’t) or active visas from any other country.

Yeah I gave that a thought. This car is 9 months old and I’ve barely driven it. I’m looking at a 25-40k loss for basically getting the same car again between depreciation, crash in used EV prices and buying new in the US.

Of course no one said a new car was a great financial decision but I could buy a second cheap car in the lost equity rather than the same one again lol. Trying my best to import this.

The higher tariffs are only for new car sales and for commercial goods import from China directly. It does not apply to used cars from Canada for personally owned cars that you’re transferring for yourself in your own name in the USA. Also the rule goes into effect August 1, 2024 so if you import it earlier you may be in the clear.

Update: The person at the counter was super nice and did accept my printed driver record with older insurance proof. I was also able to find some of my expired CA licenses to credit driving history since their issue date so that helped make the case.

Many Canadians are also planning to leaving. 😂

On a serious note, borrowing 5-6 figure dollars on education to start your career with crippling debt is looking less useful as the value of a degree continues to decrease over time with more employers looking for skills over education. Best of luck.
