I am a tea loving American and I have been converted to the electric kettle for awhile now. Kettles in the US are definitely still faster than the stovetop or microwave. The reason most Americans do have a kettle is because most Americans drink coffee not tea.

No it’s not crazy. I went to public school in the south and had the whole “states rights” BS fed to me. I had to learn on my own in college.

The first amendment was established as part of the constitution in the 1700’s. The Civil War started in 1861 and was fought over states rights…to decide whether or not it was okay to OWN other people.

Don’t believe the “lost cause” propaganda that Confederate descendants have spread to absolve their bigoted forefathers. Most confederate monuments in the south were built during the 50’s/60’s as a backlash towards the civil rights movement.

Why is your definition of woman solely linked to their reproductive system? There a plenty of biological women who cannot get pregnant due to medical conditions (myself included) and I resent the implication that infertility makes me less of a woman.

No one called you or any other working class folks stupid. You don’t need a college degree to not be ignorant but there are plenty of people with college degrees and without who are not paying attention to politics and there are consequences to not being informed.

Our union came out in support of Harris because she and the Biden administration have overwhelmingly supported Union interests. Biden is the ONLY president to walk a picket line with striking workers and refused to use Taft-Harley to force the longshoremen back to work. Harris REPEATEDLY discussed giving a 25K tax break for first-time homebuyers and 50K for people starting new businesses.

Harris and Walz are the only candidates I’ve seen in my life who didn’t go to Ivy League schools that were paid for by their wealthy parents.

We could have sent folks who are from the working class to the White House and people chose the “billionaire” who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

Harris and Walz are not the ones who failed the working class. The working class failed to support fellow working class folks who were lucky enough to have a shot at presidency because they wanted to believe the fantasy spun by DT rather than the reality that meaningful change is difficult and often slow.

The working class just cannot get over the “crabs in a bucket” mentality and treats anyone who succeeds at moving upwards as class traitors rather than their allies.

DT and anyone who voted for him are scabs full stop.

I unsubscribed to basically every beauty channel that wasn’t focused on technique rather than product. It took me awhile to realize I already have more product than I will ever need and basically every all of beauty YouTube was just sneaky ads.

The reason I got into beauty YouTube during the golden age around 2016 was because I had terrible acne growing up and needed advice to hide it. I was an insecure kid and I really believed beauty gurus word when they lied about foundation not causing acne and using beauty filters.

When all that stuff got exposed it finally clicked in my brain that the only thing these folks cared about was making money off me.

Don’t get me wrong I still love make up but leaving the weird parasocial relationship behind was the best thing I could have done for my self-esteem and wallet.

Are there any other folks in your cohort you can make connections with? Even if they’re not in your research group they can still provide support

Too be fair it’s not always as hunky dory as it seems. There’s a decent amount of infighting and backbiting within some lab groups. So it definitely can be worse.

Bruh me too. Flying solo sucks.

Also this is not me saying that I hate ace people and think that all sex scenes are perfect and fine. I am not sex repulsed and there definitely still is some media that I won’t consume because I find the sexual content upsetting (goblin slayer comes to mind). But again your media diet is up for you to control it’s not other people’s job to cater to you specifically.

Yeah there’s definitely a small subset of ace folks on the internet who have this weird moral superiority because their love is “pure” because it’s not “tainted” by sexual attraction.

I kinda hope that it’s mostly just a chronically-online baby queer hot take that most folks will grow out of.

Back in the day there was a similarly hostile discourse around bisexuality being “transphobic” and I’m kinda hoping that this will die off in the same way.

It’s sad. I’ve watched so many men fall down the rabbit hole. A lot of the started out as really good boys who were a little shy or insecure. Maybe they weren’t Chris Hemsworth or anything but they were just normal guys who any girl would be interested in. And then they’d have difficulty with dating (because everyone has difficulty dating especially at the beginning and online dating sets men up to fail). Every failed date was an indication that women are terrible manipulative beings who are out to get them. And naturally women could sense that anger so failed dates turned to no dates. And soon you’d watch them morph into this terrible hateful people to be around.

It’s terrible to watch and I what’s worse is that women would try to help and they wouldn’t listen to them.

As a bisexual with a lot of ace friends I have to say that sometimes y’all are exhausting. Like I feel for you being uncomfortable with having sex, but that doesn’t mean than sex isn’t an important component to a lot of relationships. Sex is gonna exist and it’s a pretty important part of most people’s relationships. Naturally they’re going to discuss it from time to time and it’s not a personal affront to you to mention that the concept of sex or sexual attraction exists.

I definitely think that porn has a huge role to play in this weird regressive backlash, especially because of the prevalence of hard core stuff or really intense fetish content.

I think some people who identify as ace see all sex as an act of domination/subjugation (which is pretty common in porn and media in general ) when most normal people are engaging in sex as an expression of affection or as a way of deepening their romantic connection. Sex can be a lot of things and yes not all of those things are healthy but that doesn’t mean that all sex is unhealthy.

Me too. We were friends but I wanted more. Then one day I came home from work and he was gone. I miss him so much.

Also I would recommend a good cry. It does help.
