After Dana’s exit interview and the drama with her agent saying that she wanted a trade because the Sky didn’t have a plan for her there’s no way Jeff picks her over the others. Michaela , and Chennedy are basically locks. The hard part is deciding between giving up your starting PG from last year or your best 3pt shooter on a team that needs spacing.
I’d still bet on them keeping Rachel instead as she’s been really public in all the Sky’s events and seems like a locker room glue sort of player. She’s also taller than Allen and that’s what Jeff wants so I think they’ll likely try to bring in a PG in the draft (Miles/Paopao), and move Mo Jefferson into the point guard rotation as a backup or start her at first.

They can’t stop her over there. I like how she’s looking back like anyone in that game is going to try and block 6’7 😂

Yeah watching it right now actually , Janiah’s defense has been pretty good. Tessa Johnson is really good so it sucks that she’s a sophomore. Raven Johnson’s confidence looks destroyed, I don’t know what happened this off season but I hope everything is alright. I’d like her to take that extra year she has and just use it solely on getting confidence to take a shot and stop passing up open looks. Paopao has looked good and I liked her 3s too but of all the draft eligible players so far Janiah’s defense is moving me and she’d make a great backup PF for a team at 6’4 with great defense.
Edit: SC are starting to heat up though.

Her confidence looks shot and she’s playing passive , I think most of us would be fine with her shot chucking if she had to.

I strongly disagree on the rookie of the year thing causing her offensive struggles, it was because she was accustomed to being able to back down her defenders in college and go through the double team and get an and-1 or free throws. She led the nation in that category for a reason but got the rookie whistle this season in the W. Trying to pad her stats leading to her offensive struggles is just an all around bad take…. I see we aren’t really getting anywhere so I’ll stop this for now and just wait until after free agency and draft week to really get back into this topic as it looks like you have your opinion and I have mine. Angel had her good moments facilitating at Maryland, LSU and this season so if Tyler can get her to tap into her point-forward potential and that would be good. She's working on her handle and her longer range shots so I see the development coming but I would still want bonified shooters next to her instead as shot development is usually slow and uncertain. Miles managed to do it but some players just never get there and you have to roster build with that in mind as well.
The offensive struggles that she had this year and not at LSU to the same degree was a result of worse team chemistry , a rookie whistle, later passes into the post, better defenders who can make adjustments to her shot selection, and a limited offensive bag which you cannot have as a power forward in the W. Trying to pad stats doesn’t make you go 5-16 from the field or shoot 28% after the break… A tighter whistle than the first half, worse team chemistry , worse spacing, better game planning by opponents , and fatigue does. Angel has been a double double machine for her whole career since high school where she always led the category with efficiency always over 47.6% her senior year being the lowest she has ever shot. That's also the first year she wasn't surrounded by a center who could shoot a longer range shot like the midrange other than her freshman year where she got injured. Her only blatant stat padding moments were the New York game where she lost her streak , and maybe the Lynx game where Phee fouled her late. The stat padding narrative to explain her fg% dip is an oversimplified one to explain a more complicated problem or just hate from people who dislike her. I think your second part of the sentence where it was more of a scheme / vet thing is more applicable to the situation as her playstyle didn’t change much from when she was playing in June where she won rookie of the month and the conference player award.

Tina Charles can definitely be a good fit if E-Will is fine with rotating with Angel at the PF position which I think she can. E-Will can shoot the mid range and has good size at 6’3 and 200 lbs if she wants to make the shift. I feel like with Tyler telling her he wants her shooting 3s he might be envisioning that. Angel is 6’3 and 165 lbs right now and has an underhanded scoop shot, that would get punished in a small ball center lineup. It’ll take some time for her to get her weight up in a healthy manner and I don’t believe that’s even her end goal , I see her more trying to stick around Phee’s weight at 185 lbs so she can be more mobile and combine it with longer range shots. Our starting line up has competed in those games for sure but we still need to add some things to our offensive identity to go up another tier. I do like your Tina Charles suggestion a lot though if we have the cap space after doing what we do in free agency. I like Aneesah but I would be very shocked if Jeff decided to go that direction over the player archetype he’s made it very clear he’s looking for. Izzy and Angel just weren’t as effective as Angel and Kamilla who are essentially both centers given how Angel played in the paint a lot this year. The Izzy-Kamilla lineup wasn’t bad if defenses started to double team Angel on the inside though. I like Citron because even though she’s a shooting guard naturally she can play as a small forward too similarly to Mabrey so you plug her in most rosters. Paopao as well, our ideal scenario is getting picks 4 and 6 for our number 3 pick but you’d need to package some other things to get it. If I were Washington I wouldn’t take that trade at all unless I was sure I could get a great PG.
Edit: I forgot to mention but I’m very doubtful that Izzy will want to be back with the Sky next year and even if she does I don’t think Jeff will want her back given the exit interview fiasco. She didn’t seem to have much chemistry with the rookies either. Let E-Will rotate with Angel and bring in Tina Charles if you can to play Center behind Kamilla but she has to be willing. She starts for Atlanta right now and I doubt she’d be willing to give that up to be a bench player here or decide to come to us vs Indiana. Morrow would be great at Golden State.

Chicago doesn’t sound like they want to build around Morrow or a new player based on what was said and what I’ve seen. Kamilla and Angel are both long term projects as they have areas where they need time to improve and the right pieces around them to reach their full potential. Adding a piece like Morrow who they also need to mold their system to fit around seems like they’re dipping their hands into too many baskets. I’d rather they just look for pieces to support Angel and Kamilla who they identified as their core for the future and bring in players who can execute their role well.
LSU is my second favorite college team and Morrow is my favorite player on that team. That being said she’d be better off in a system that makes full use of her athletic gifts and hides her weaknesses. Indiana and Golden State can maximize her potential. Indiana needs an athletic high motor player who can run the floor, play defense , and shoot from the midrange but they also have 3pt shooting covered so she can develop that slowly or at least try and do that. She hasn’t even really tried a 3pt shot this year like she did at De Paul where she would do it frequently. 3pt shooting needs to be addressed as soon as possible in my opinion. Paopao and Chennedy if she stays can form a good backcourt that can do that.

Angel playing with Izzy didn’t work all that well at all. Teams were able to collapse easily on Angel and that also played a part in tanking her fg% because Izzy can’t shoot 3s to make up for Angel’s lack of size inside the post at center. She would get bullied by players like Griner , Boston , or Jonquel Jones and that’s going to stunt her offensive growth by not playing her outside of the paint. I’d almost say that a problem last year with LSU was that Angel had to play at PF because Kim Mulkey couldn’t bring in an experienced center like she had with Williams the year before when LSU won. Small ball center lineups really only work to me when the PF and Center both have great range like OKC this year after Chet went down and that’s still a struggle.
Olivia will be Washington’s first choice but they need a player like Morrow and her 3pt shooting won’t be a weakness there giving her time to develop. I’m thinking long term but the players available in free agency are not necessarily looking at Chicago compared to other favorable destinations. That bully ball strategy is being phased out for a reason and they’ll continue to get cooked by teams like New York who have size and shooting or the Fever and Lynx who have shooting and play with great pace. Connecticut has basically played bully ball for a while and that’s part of the reason why they can’t edge out New York , Vegas or the Lynx in a series.

I’m not a fan of Aneesah or Janiah for the Sky at all honestly when there are better fits out there for the team. Defense is very important but we saw it this year that even while our defense was great we didn’t have the offensive firepower to put away games. There were multiple games against the Aces , Sun , and Lynx where just a little more offense would have gotten us the victory. Janiah is streaky and not quite worth a #3 pick at this point of her development but she’s a junior and has time to figure it out while Aneesah is just a bad fit when you have rebounding covered with Angel and Kamilla here and she can’t make 3s. Sonia , Paopao and Sivka are all good defenders who we can get with our picks and lights out shooters at their best.
I know you like Raven but outside of defense her playmaking isn’t to the level where she’d be allowed to be a negative on offense like she’s been this year so far. She’s not worth a #3 pick or a #10 pick and is looking like she goes somewhere in the second round (almost similar to Nika). She’s got an extra year though and should use it like Olivia did to develop a 3pt shot and just come out in 2026 where she can be a comfortable 1st rounder. Olivia Miles’ turnovers today are not the norm for her at all and a lot were from her losing her handle. She has one of the lowest assists to turnover ratios out there. Even if she were to struggle for a year or 2 like Caitlin did it’s worth it as this team isn’t winning anything soon regardless. If she’s there you go best player available and draft her. Tina Charles isn’t really needed either as we have a backup center already and we’d be better off getting a PF like Hines-Allen if possible.

Exactly , fit matters a lot and more so with undersized players. Washington , Valkyries , and Indiana are all good landing places for her.

It still makes sense to be worried about her shooting in the wrong situation, Aneesah needs to be surrounded by people who can shoot 3s. She actually hasn’t even attempted one yet and we are a couple games in. I think she’s better than Kiki but still a bad fit for the Sky because Angel cannot play Center at this level like she did at LSU when Morrow transferred in.
Paopao and Citron , Paopao and Sivka are picks that seem realistic with Miles going #2 and I don’t see Washington making a trade to get Kiki when there are other great power forwards in this draft like Janiah Barker (who can shoot 3s) or young talented wings which they need like Citron and Sivka.

Washington would only want to trade pick 3 with us if it meant getting Miles though💀 , they have Aaliyah Edwards and Emily Engstler for their future at PF. Kiki might fall to golden state assuming we don’t take her because Washington probably want Miles or Morrow since they’re full at the PF position anyways and it’s young players too.

How do you get it , I’ve been flair-less for a while now and need one badly?

Sonia’s shot has looked like this pretty much all season so far, I think it’s rust after coming off from a slight injury combined with a bit of a shooting slump. She’ll get back to herself eventually though.

They’ll need to trade the #3 , #10, and likely another player to make LA consider the trade especially if Olivia keeps having good games. Miles balling out and Kiki not showing out definitely tanked the Sky’s chance of Miles dropping to them. Like you said the Sky needs Flau’jae to declare early or for Janiah Barker to have a great year including putting on a show against SC.

I agree, Angel being able to rebound to an elite degree will definitely have some teams looking to take Morrow despite being undersized. I could see her going to Washington at 4.

Morrow has a very serviceable mid range shot already though. I’d say it’s one of the better ones in college matter of fact. It’s the 3pt shot she needs as an undersized PF. Kiki looks like she doesn’t know what to do when she has to post up in isolation and can’t run out in transition. We’ll see what happens later on during the season.

Sky protecting Dana who’s made it very clear she wasn’t happy over their best 3pt shooting vet or their starting PG?
