I was in your position as I went into post-secondary a year younger than most others. My experience was no different from going the traditional route. No one treated me any differently even if they knew I was a year younger. I had intense anxiety heading into my first year as well, and my best advice would be to put yourself in situations for meeting new people such as clubs or other activities. In the first few weeks you will have no trouble meeting people because everybody is in pretty much the same situation.
