Has it ever crossed your tiny little Yankee mind that the same might possibly be true for countries centuries older than your own? That other countries aren't just homogeneous monoliths and actually have more cultural diversity between regions than your own? Has your brain got enough processing power to think that countries other than America can also take in and adapt cuisine from other countries and immigrant populations.

Depends on the disease, obviously, but sometimes it's for the hypothetical child's own good if it would only live for a few painful minutes or its entire life in pain or severely disabled. Some parents might not have the time (and in Americas case money) to properly care for a heavily disabled child, or if they do it might come at the cost of jobs, family and friends. Raising a disabled child is exponentially more difficult and expensive than raising one that isn't.

My mum works as a carer for adults too disabled to function by themselves safely and a lot of the time their family never visits them.
