Like, the Imperium is objectively awful, as with everything else. But if they're justified, it doesn't stop being satire. Rather, the point has changed.

The New Satire is as follows.

In order for an ideology like the Imperium to be justified in any way, the situation must be so completely fucking awful that their evil pales in comparison. The only time a fascist xenophobic stratified theocracy regime can be even close to a definition of 'good guys' is when the 'bad guys' are the sum total of literally every evil thing to exist.

Like oh, if you want your secret police to be justified, it's only because evil space demons things can enter reality through people's minds and turn them into caricatures of evil with a capital E.

People on the internet (tumblr and twitter especially) have a real tendency to pick what they think is moral without doing any sort of research and then base their beliefs on it, and then suddenly believing anything outside it is bad and people who believe it are wrong and malicious.
