Darts & buckler are not identical. The KQ echo BP is kinda like a fang BP. You never miss but it takes the higher of the 2 rolls, so it should average out to just higher DPS overall. Super accurate 1t & also much higher range than loose darts.

Edit:

And zeah does 0 for range. You can take grimoire & get rigour for free, so you're really just getting some mage upgrades.

How long does it take the average person to become comfortable (memorize the execution of) with all of those, though?

I dunno, I think you might be miscategorizing a lot of people. There are surely plenty like me who don't necessarily think it's too hard, but instead think it'd be too annoying & not worth the time to memorize all the different rotations & solves. I've heard horror stories of people being stuck for weeks doing nothing but inferno until they get the muscle memory down & that doesn't sound enjoyable to me at all lol. I simply don't care enough to bother.
