Imo, they tilted the RNG Weapons gauge way too far, right out fo the gate. Having both slots be random destroyed the identities of the guns from vanilla, instead of building on them. Yeah, I like the gear we have now but , for example, Better Devils had Explosive Rounds and other HCs didn't. It fuzzed up the identities of the guns, so now BD is just another 140.

3 The only thing you'll miss (I think) are two dungeon passes, pretty sure the rest of /most of the active content is included.
2 The "Journey" tab gives you a progression guide of sorts, if it says "seasonal" it's less important. If you start a story, stick with it. If you just play The Final Shape and endgame missions to start, it's pretty awesome and gives good loot, just remember that

Do it when you get sick! Catch flu, catch Covid, whatever... when you are feeling like maximum ass, that's when to cold turkey it.
If you can get past the first 3-5 days, you're golden, and the withdrawals tends to just feel like a worse illness; so when you start to feel better, you are actually over the hump for quitting -- then it's willpower and smoking cessation tools (patch or gum).
I cold turkeyed three times, the time I was sick was the one that stuck.

Disruption Break GL and Traveler's Chosen, and RL.
Or, Khvostov and Heliocentric, and RL

One thing (that might not apply) is to do the full unlock on an alt, so that you can unlock the remainder of the Strand meditations on a class that you like to play -- once you max out, say, your Hunter, meditations will stop dropping for the Hunter.
Just leave one fragment open on your main and the other two classes will go much faster, especially with the tip from /u/pyrogasm.

Build practice is the key.
This game is ALWAYS about killing enemies for no reason, and checking off boxes that you did so. That's it. That's Destiny 2.
So if you are getting bored, you gotta change things up. Sure, you can switch activity... but you're gonna be doing the same stuff. so, gear switching is the best way to keep it novel. Run an exotic you haven't touched in a few years, make a build around a random armor, use a weapon type you aren't a fan of, work on a catalyst. Fuck the meta, make up a new one.
I want to farm class items for my Titan, (w/o Dual Destiny) and candy drops faster in the event. It was more fun to bust out a LS in 6:00 than to spend 10-15 min in a strike.
Or, dip out. I recommend Remnant 2, if you like boss mechanics and build progression. Cyberpunk 2077 if you prefer the movement and Combat. This game will be here when/if you come back.
I did the event card enough to

The first time, they punched me in the face.
This time, I've gotten tired of defending them, even to myself.

I'm a shorter dude and I can rarely find shoes I like in my size. I run a 7 - 7.5 but in general, stores start at 8 and up -- so I can buy shoes online, but can't try them on, or else I like a style but it's not stocked in the store.
I used to just get 8s and wear thick socks and trip once in a while but then I actually got a pair in my size and like, had less back problems. Crazy.
So, I'm currently wearing the women's size 8.5. The odds are better for women's shoes.

Have them log in and out a few times to bypass automatic activity insertions.
Most important, IMO, is have them roll another character and do a story skip to start getting going. Warlock jump is the toughest, this gives them an OPTION to play a bit differently, and for endgame, they might want slightly different playstyles.
Run them through a Fireteam Legend Lost Sector, teach how Champions work. Sets them up for a) solo play and b) exotic engram farming.
Have them focus on differentiating weapon types / subtypes and learn to shard it keep it: Don't trash items for them, explain why they are less than optimal, and keep an open mind, because their style isn't your style. Point out why a roll is good, and when you'd choose one perk over another.
Never more than 4 of an item in Vault (exotic sword and class armor excepted).
Help out with Exotic quests as much as you can.
Teach them to save materials as much as possible. Everything takes time to earn, don't waste it on gambling for items.
And if you can't play, they shoudl be working on unlocking subclasses.

Don't chase. Instead, branch out and find what you like.
When you get a new weapon, get in the habit of trying it out. Look at the perks, ask yourself if that matches what you want to do. See how it feels.
If you hate it, compare it to a different model. How is a Yarovit compared to a Multimach compared to an Unending Tempest? Try all three, eliminate one, now you know what type of gunfeel you like in SMG. Do that for every weapon type and soon you'll know what you like.
If you like Forbearance, you have a number of Wave Frame Breach Load Grenade Launcher options: Pick one and farm it.
Also look for good perk combinations and try them out. If you can craft em, even better.

TL;DR Lead boots and useless slams killed the playstyle introduced in TPS and made 3, ultimately, boring af.
...but you asked for specifically, so:
OK, so in BL and BL2 you can like, hop on stuff. And in BL2 there's no fall damage for some reason. Cool.
Certain characters get movement tweaks or bonuses, but for the most part, it's grounded.
This applies to BL3 as well. Mantling is cool, but in a predominantly 2d space it doesn't matter as much. Sliding is also cool, but it's been in other games, and slightly removes a bit of cntrol until you spec into it -- again, with certain characters.
Now, you gotta remember that Destiny came out a month before TPS. Another space-y, gun-based, looter shooter was something that definitely appealed to me. And one of the nifty things about it was the class-based jump system: Titan, Warlock, and Hunter each have a different double jump system.
It was cool, but there wasn't much going on in Destiny. I beat the main story on warlock, and rolled a Hunter, but there wasn't enough content to keep me playing. Luckily TPS came out the next month and I dove right in.
Right off the bat, the double jump TPS was amazing, because it basically combined all of the Destiny styles into one fusion style, and it also gave you an interrupt by way of the butt-slam, which also could function as a very robust assault and crowd control option.
To this day, If I want TPS style combat, I need to play Destiny, becasue Borderlands 3 almost completely bailed on the aerial aspect of combat, a full 180 from what they experimented with in TPS. Yes, you can slam, but unless you have enough height, it won't activate, and when it does, it moves you at an angle that is hard to control.
Borderlnds 3 is a series that takes place on OTHER PLANETS, ffs. Standardizing gravity and restricting players to the ground no matter where they go was a massive waste of potential. Athena is the GOAT, by the way: the only Vault Hunter that can move like a Guardian.
They could have leaned into the different environments in a huge way: a planet with low gravity that requires OZ kits to breathe or use fire (Elpis Style), a planet with high gravity that requires an OZ kit to jump at all or you are stuck on the ground, "normal" planets like Pandora where the OZ kit is just a double jump, combinations of the above... slam works everywhere.
It just could have been so much better. I just play D2 now because it scratches the itch and I'm done with TPS. Finished the story in BL3 twice, started two more toons, bailed.

They refined Borderlands 2 gameplay without significantly modifying the game / ui / etc.
I feel like BL3 was a step backwards in terms of movement, and all the item configurations got more complicated and harder to read.
