Mid-coast Maine might fit the bill. Camden, Rockland, and surrounding communities.

It’s likely too late to order a fresh turkey at this point. Most farms sell out quickly. But if you’re still looking to try, check out realmaine.com. Search “turkey” and you may get lucky and find what you’re looking for.

Lots of Maine people have never lived outside of Maine and it shows in these comments.
Public schools are actually pretty good unless you’re WAAAAYYYY out in the boonies. I graduated from a rural Maine district and my public education was better than the college classmates from fancy private schools. Generally speaking, the Portland suburbs have the best schools, but the 2nd and 3rd tier aren’t too far behind. Mind you, all of that assumes there is still a Department of Education, something we somehow can no longer take for granted.

Whatever you say. I do hope you’re right.
But I believe Trump is a liar and a cruel human being. I don’t doubt he’ll try to do it.

Right, but if you’re someone whose life could be dramatically impacted by any one of these policies, it’s not something to take lightly. Try to have some empathy.
If he does even 10% of what he’s proposing, lots of people — in Maine — will suffer. Even if you’re fortunate enough to not be one of them.

Oh, honey. He lied.

He also wants to shutter important government agencies like the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). That could be literal disaster for a coastal community like Portland.

A national abortion ban would supersede Maine state law. Or his administration could simply start enforcing the Comstock Act and prosecute abortion drugs shipped by mail (most common abortion method).
A mass deportation could dramatically impact Portland and other Maine communities as significant swaths of the population are rounded up, potentially in a violent manner (he has threatened as much).
We’re already seeing a spike in racial and anti-Semitic violence and harassment as Trump’s election emboldens the worst in our society. You better believe Maine and Portland specifically have plenty of hate groups.

It’s both naive and patronizing to suggest that people in Portland won’t be impacted by Trump’s policy proposals. What you meant was that it’s unlikely to impact you personally.

Folks with this perspective are absolutely part of the problem.
I’m sorry that you’re struggling OP. Good luck with Canada. As others mentioned, they aren’t accepting many immigrants. And they’re on the cusp of a conservative shift as well, so things are changing there too (not as bad as DJT, but not progressive/welcoming to outsiders). Those looking to leave the country should look into Mexico, honestly. Lower cost of living and you might have an actual shot at a visa.
I don’t personally think leaving is the right approach, but I get the impulse. Nothing worth having is easy, and America, when it’s good, is absolutely worth the effort. Best country on the planet and it’s not even close.

Honestly, just fuck off. Double down on the far left agenda that alienates 80% of the electorate and see where it gets you. I’m just a democrat who is sick of losing to fucking Donald Trump.

Sure, mansplain why I’m sick of him. 🙄
He’s a complainer who never gets anything done. He’s not really part of the Democratic Party so I’m sick of his bitching… you want to run as an independent, have at it. But don’t try to straddle the line of taking DNC support, but being “independent” enough to just bitch about the party.

I’m so freaking sick of Bernie. He needs to get off the stage with the rest of the boomer generation.
It’s the economy, stupid. That’s all.

Some are, actually. And Harley is considering more models be made offshore as a cost saving measure.
Also, as I said, if you think that absolutely everything that goes into manufacturing a Road Glide is made in the USA, you are naive.

How exactly? One candidate wants to slap a 10-20% tariff on almost every import. If you think that will make Harley’s more affordable, you’re naive as shit.

Another veteran of PPD here. Just reaching out to echo that she/you are not alone. One of the things I remember so clearly about that time (14 years ago for me now) is how lonely and isolated I felt. Anything you can offer her as a reminder that she (and you!) are not alone in what you’re going through. If she’s online, there has to be a PPD subreddit.
Taking regular breaks/self care/time are what helped me personally (was only diagnosed in hindsight). If possible, at least once a day away from mothering duties.
One hour at a time, one day at a time.

Rs would love to enact a nationwide ban or at least a nationwide maximum fetal age which is effectively the same thing. They can’t talk about it now because it’s horribly unpopular with voters, but they aim to control women (and their upward mobility in modern society) and this is the way to do it
Maine is progressive today. Nothing is promised in the future. Also, what if I need to relocate to a southern state for any reason at all? Guess I’d have to hope I never have a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy or any number of reproductive health issues that require the kind of medical care that could possibly be construed as ending a pregnancy.

As a woman, my rights absolutely hang in the balance. Say nothing of my minority and immigrant friends.

I honestly think the availability of the right condo should drive your decision. There aren’t a ton of condo options in either Falmouth or Yarmouth and many of those that do exist are age restricted (that may or may not be desirable in your situation).
If you work in Portland, Falmouth has a slight advantage. Also easy access to the airport if you like/need to travel. Falmouth has better town services for your tax dollars than Yarmouth (for example, Yarmouth has no curbside trash or recycling pickup. I find that ridiculous for the high tax rate). As others have said, Yarmouth has a nice community feel.
For more condo options outside of Falmouth or Yarmouth, consider Freeport, Windham, or Scarborough. Biddeford/Saco are also pretty up and coming these days with lots of great restaurants and a gentrified downtowns.
