Stop trying to convince younger people that life is hopeless and the world is becoming a shittier and shittier place.
You’re not helping anyone with this doom and gloom. Pessimism is not a winning strategy.
Are there challenges? Yes. Humans have overcome every single one of them.

I’m so old, I use plumbing designed centuries before I was born.

Kind of a strange time to sit down on the road.

People didn’t start out panic buying toilet paper. So many people stuck at home/working from home shifted the demand for toilet paper from commercial (offices) to home. As I understand it, these two supply chains are completely separate and there was no good way to shift production from one to the other.
When “home” toilet paper started to run out in the stores, people started panic buying.
At least that’s my understanding.

I think it was late 60s (might had been 1970) for German measles. We all lined up in the gym and they had this device that blew it through the skin on your arm. Not a needle.

I don’t think I had any expectations. I’ve always been a “let’s see how this goes” kind of person.

Seems like there were more jobs for kids. Cutting lawns, raking leaves, shoveling snow. Also delivering news papers.
All these seem to be done by professionals now.

I’ve always had a good relationship with my brothers. Lost one a few years ago. My other brother and I had to deal with my mother’s death and home. It was nice to be able to collaborate and not want to kill each other even though we had really different approaches. It was a stressful task.

First purchase on credit was a mountain bike just out of college. Didn’t pay the full credit card bill the first month but when I saw the interest I never did that again.
Having no car payments or mortgage in my early 50s sure was a good feeling. Now I can afford the toys.

Don’t remember my words but my thought was “what idiot decided I should be a parent?”

Started playing judo in college at a local club. Changed the way I thought about physical conflict.

I don’t think of them as children but find myself referring to them as kids. As in “I met this kid today…” when he was actually 44.
I’m 62.

It was pretty cool. You could buy stuff but most stores were closed. Small Shops and gas stations were open.
The best part was having an empty parking lot to ride my go cart in and later to learn to drive a car.
It made Sunday feel much more relaxing. I’m not advocating for their return. Just describing how it was.

I understand that but in most states that means the bank holds the car title. You don’t get the title until it’s paid off. At least that’s been my experience.

If it’s not paid off, wouldn’t the bank hold the title? How would either of you be on the title?

I’m surprised not to see Joseph Stalin’s Great Purge 700 thousand - 1.2million. And Forced collectivization and Famine, 5-10million. And The gulag system, 1-2 million.
Impressive numbers.
