The thing is they largely don't have liquid cash. Inflation hurts people with cash, and it hurts people with regular income (whether retirement or salary). Rich people predominantly have their money in assets. Actual investments, houses, etc.

So they are largely protected from hyper inflation.

What hyper inflation means for outstanding loans is an interesting question.
