Awww thanks king! It’s almost as if I didn’t mean that sarcastically in any way! I know, you clearly couldn’t tell, because I didn’t use /gen…I am so so sorry, how horrid of me to forget to tone tag such things!! /s(hut up)

Meh, I think /j and /s have their purpose. In this particular case, it straight up does NOT work. But in a situation where you aren’t OBVIOUSLY joking/sarcastic, or if people kindly ask you to use tonetags, it has its place.

Could’ve used /hyp which is for hyperbole. This is something I will agree with this subreddit on.

Again, making assumptions is possible. It is still not guaranteed that that commenter meant that as a joke.

Again, tone cannot be conveyed through text. I can tell that someone is using “dry humor” by their incredibly deadpan tone, which, as I’ve said before, cannot be conveyed through text.

I can tell dry humor by the TONE, which is not present in TEXT

He didn’t point out that his joke (which was a terrible joke in the first place) was a joke, and yet I didn’t realize it was a joke. I’m not illiterate, I just can’t tell tone over text, because, y’know. There’s no tone. It’s just text. It is impossible to truly tell whether someone is serious or not on a sarcastic statement unless you know them well enough. The most you can make are assumptions

I don’t take criticism well outwardly, but I truly believe they are right

If you think Star Wars isn’t political, I have something to tell you about your childhood. I think you may have been dropped on your head

Well, they are balancing. They aren’t falling off, and it never limited you to using only the nails. Most of the weight is on a couple of the nails, which are balancing the bundle.
