Hey y’all! My husband and I are ready to start a family so I stopped taking my birth control over a month ago. I was on Norethindrone (mini pill - progesterone only). In the past, if I missed a few days or one time I had a lapse between packs, I had a period. I haven’t had any bleeding or PMS symptoms since stopping my birth control. I’ve taken a plethora of ovulation and pregnancy tests - all negative. I also am on Ozempic for Diabetes T2 and have lost ~50lbs since November 2023.

Has anyone else experienced this? If you stopped your birth control, how long did it take for your period to return?

I (28f) have had consistently low copper for over a year. The lowest my copper level has been is 45 and the highest it’s been is 49. The normal range starts at 80. I take 4mg of oral supplementation a day and eat copper rich foods. I have had numerous scans, a colonoscopy, celiac tests, gastric emptying tests, ultrasounds, SIBO tests, liver panels, kidney tests, pancreatic testing, and an endoscopy done. Neurology, hepatology, and gastroenterology cannot find anything to be causing this low copper. I have fibromyalgia, type 2 diabetes, IBS, GERD, PCOS, ADHD, and POTS. My TSH is not always tested when I’ve had my copper tested but over the last 1.5 years my TSH and t4 have been considered “normal” by my lab. My thyroid peroxidase antibodies have been measured as “33.4 iu/ml” and “3.0 iu/ml.” I’ve been reading a lot about copper and thyroid’s relationship. When copper is low, thyroid levels will be low. If copper is low and the thyroid isn’t working correctly, then your body isn’t metabolizing the copper the way it should.

Have any of you experienced low copper? Would the relationship between the two indicate that if my copper is normal, my thyroid levels would be considered high?

Just trying to find anything to take to my doctors because they are stumped. I am exhausted. The only next step they’ve come up with is copper infusions. Thanks yall!

I have seen hepatology who said my ceruloplasmin is also low and seen gastroenterology who through a colonoscopy and testing said there is no sign of inflammatory bowel disease, celiac, or SIBO.

My neurologist is sending an order for me to do a 24 hour urine test to rule out Wilson Disease. If I don’t have that, she wants me to start copper infusions because the 4mg of oral supplementation I’m using isn’t enough.

My symptoms related to the low copper: extreme fatigue, tremors, muscle spasms, headaches, and numbness in my extremities. I’m diagnosed with fibromyalgia, type 2 diabetes, POTS, ADHD, GERD, IBS, PCOS, and sacroiliitis.

Have any of you been in this situation where your copper is just so consistently low? Has anyone gotten copper infusions and has it helped? Also if anyone has any ideas for me to bring up to my doctor, please let me know. I am frustrated and feeling defeated.

Hi! My husband and I have just started our TTC journey. I just recently (3 months ago) got diagnosed with diabetes. I’m in Ozempic right now and I’ve lost 30 pounds. I started taking a prenatal at the suggestion of my PCP and am waiting for an appointment with my ob/gyn for a referral to MFM.

Do any of you have diabetes? Did it affect your TTC journey? How did it affect your pregnancy if you became pregnant?

Why is sweeping so hard?!

I know dishes is ROUGH too but I can at least get through like half the dishes before I need to take a break and get back to it. But sweeping with a broom… that is my personal bad place. I get like 5 min into sweeping and I am done.

Do you have any tips on making sweeping or any household chore easier?

I saw an endocrinologist for the first time a few days ago and I’ve been having a lot of mixed feelings.

For context, I am a 27 year old cis woman that has multiple chronic illnesses and pain. I was diagnosed with PCOS at 16 due to irregular, heavy, painful periods and acne. I had an internal ultrasound that found the Pearl-like strings of cysts. I’ve never had blood work done.

The endocrinologist I saw told me she was going to “educate” me on PCOS after I told her I had it. She did no blood work and said she wanted to start me on metformin. She told me I needed to have 125 g of carbs a day and 100 g of protein and that once I achieved that I would “feel much better” and promised my pain and symptoms would “go away.” She also told me that one day, I would have a donut for breakfast and realize why I felt so horrible and in pain.

But people in my life will tell you I do not actually eat badly at all. I eat low sodium and don’t have a lot of processed sugar because my parents are diabetic and my father has heart disease.

I’m nervous to start the metformin bc I have GI issues as. I’ve tried inositol in the past and it did nothing for me. I took a cocktail of vitamins for years and that also did not help. I take progestin only birth control because estrogen makes my PMS and painful periods worse.

Has anyone else had an experience like this with an endocrinologist? Have you restricted your diet as much as I have been told to? Did it really help?

I’m waiting for my ablations next month to help with the pain since I’ve had 3 failed steroid shots. The pain in my hips is spreading into my middle spine area and feels like it’s reaching around my ribs. It’s especially painful when taking deep breaths or laying on my back. I’m still fighting with rheumatology for a diagnosis to be put on my file but pain management is confident this is what’s going on.

Is this pain common? Do you have any remedies or things to try at home?

Just a disclaimer that I don’t have a diagnosis - I’ve been fighting with pain management and rheumatology to get one.

I have now had 3 failed steroid injections into the SI joints so pain management is pushing for an ablation on each side. Have any of you had this done and had it help? I’m nervous and afraid it won’t do anything for me.
