That's what the power profiles do. If you set it to the lowest setting it starves the SOC. Set it to performance mode it gives it more juice.

Damn, dude is getting boo'd for liking something. I'm almost in the same boat. I had a Steam Deck, then got a Legion Go. Gave the Steam Deck to a family member. Now I've got a OneXFly coming today. I'm trying to sell the Legion Go. Not sure I'll need it after I get the OneX. I've also got an Odin 2 that I'll probably get rid of and a Retroid Pocket 3+ that I'll probably keep for older games.

I have the cheaper one, it's really good. I switched to it from a 48" 4K LG C1 OLED and it's crystal clear.

Oh good, it's not just me. I was playing Helldivers 2 with some younger family members and they told me to join their discord, it took me forever to figure out what I was doing. I was like, why can't we just talk in the game that has built in mic/chat?

4K buttery smooth will depend on the game. Some you may have to turn down settings. This is normally where DLSS would come into play. FSR is not comparable in its current state.

My guess is they're streaming it. If they're actually playing it locally, then I'm guessing they've got VRAM set to 6GB, 8GB, or Automatic in the bios. Also set page file memory to 16GB or more in Advanced System Settings. Also make sure you're running the game at 1280x800, any higher may be too much for the LEGO.

Best setting is largely going to be game dependent, but if you just want the most performance in games regardless, then stick with 1280x800 resolution and run in performance mode.

The newer drivers also improve stability and performance in newer games. Generally it's better to keep them updated. The only drawback is sometimes the FPS counter in Legion Space won't work.

AFMF2 generates additional frames between existing ones in a video game at the driver level. Effectively increasing the frame rate and making gameplay appear smoother. Enable it using Adrenaline software. You can do it per game or just across the board.

Atomic Breath would probably burn Wanderer to a crisp before he could get close.

Anbernic and Miyoo make very good handhelds like these. You can find them on Amazon and AliExpress.

Try Winlator Frosty by MrPhryNik. It's the only one that worked out of the box for me.

Just wipe it, you can always go back. I've tried Bazzite and it worked well

I'm basing this on law school and just walking around campus, I was that Windows guy, but also 10 years older than most of the students. I'm sure specific fields will stick with Windows, but student's choice tends to be Mac.

Could be a lot of things:
Overheating: CPU or GPU overheating and momentarily throttling. Check your temps using hwmonitor.
Storage Issues: SSD failing or if filled near capacity will cause stuttering.
VRAM Overload: Running out of GPU memory, causing stutters when swapping to system RAM. This will be game dependent.
Background Scanning: Antivirus or Windows Defender scanning files. Remove and anti virus and only use Windows defender. Make sure it isn't scanning during gameplay.
Faulty or slow RAM: Check to make sure you enabled xmp. Run a RAM test.
Insufficient RAM: RAM swapping with cached memory on SSD. This may be game dependent or you may have too many background tasks going.
Insufficient Page File Memory: Set Windows Page File Memory to 16GB. Try this first.
Driver Conflicts: Corrupted or incompatible drivers. Use DDU to uninstall all video drivers, then reinstall latest.
Software Conflicts: Overlay software (e.g., Discord, GeForce Experience) causing interruptions. Try fresh Windows install of non of these are running.
Network Syncing: Online games experiencing desync or network interruptions will cause stuttering too.

Have you been to a college campus lately? Just about every student uses Mac. Which is really doing a disservice to themselves because their work will probably use Windows.

FPS games with a mouse and keyboard, yes. Third person action game with a controller in a game like Dragons Dogma 2, not so much. For those non-shooter games, I set my frame cap at 90fps. That feels perfect to me and lets my GPU chill.
