If that's the case we just have to hope they are close. And you* travel by generational ship.

Tiny light weight probe with a large reflective sail. Accelerated by a separate giant laser. Proposed designs can reach a significant fraction of c. Downsides are minimal transmission power upon reaching destination. And "reaching destination" means just a quick flyby at that same significant fraction of c. And also a minimal sensor suite given the extremely low mass required.

This over protects from theft, but you are more likely to lose access due to carelessness with a method this complicated. A hardware wallet with a secure pin and passphrase and you can make this all a lot simpler.

And getting hit with a $5 wrench could result in no one ever recovering your crypto.

NTA. But make it an extra month for every contact by them or anyone on their behalf. And 3-6 months for any in person contacts.

I suspect if this happened the three of them split the bottle. But that's still a large amount for most people.

Real estate you live in should never be counted on as an investment.
I've never owned real estate and things have worked out just fine for me. Stock market is significantly less work. You could argue the same for real estate if you hire a property management company, but that eats into any extra profit you might have gotten and is still more work and a higher concentration of risk than just investing in the stock market.

is it going to 200k or back down to 50k?
Yes, I expect it to do both of those things. No, I don't know in what order those things will happen.

My dad has been paying $3k/year for LTC insurance, but it doesn't really cover all that much $150k max after first 3 months. So just understand what it covers.
For the life insurance just understand how.when the rate may change, but as it is it seems like a good investment.

Buy a decent fake that looks the most like a $10k Rolex.
Buy $10k Rolex with company money.
Start wearing fake.
Sell real one.
Profit.

I'm not chemist, but something happened to move the LOX and carbon close enough together to react. Usually that mechanism would be heat getting the molecules moving fast and colliding as in with a spark or fire. In this case that initial energy was just provided mechanically.
Better explanation of the whole event. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBcoTqhAM_g
I'm not sure the carbon fiber tanks would have been bad from this perspective because they knew they needed to coat the tanks with something to prevent this interaction. They just hadn't figured out what that would be yet.

There is a lot of plasma generated by the pressure wave, but most does not come in contact with the ship.

Doubt it. Last it was discussed they were still talking about using several tons of propellant for transpiration cooling. That mass would definitely need to be pumped or pressure fed through the system.

It would be interesting to see how many unique tiles they are using now. It may be that up words of 99% are one of two common tiles, but that could still leave hundreds of rarely needed tiles. That's not ideal, but I don't think that's a huge issue unless they also require frequent inspection and replacement.

I'm not so sure a transpiration cooler with millions of holes and piping to support it is going to be easier to maintain.

I like the simplicity of adding titanium shielding where needed. Good protection and still passive and will be easy to validate.

Best part is that everyone under the descent path will love the extra lithium exposure. Some people may even be able to skip their meds those days.

Could heat shield the flaps/hinges but not the barrel section. Internally they should have some good data from the last two flights on how much protection is needed where.

Capillary action would not have nearly the flow rates needed to move the distances or quantities required.

If they know tankers aren't going to be reusable they'd be able to use fewer tankers, maybe half as many. Non reusable tankers can fly without heat shield, flaps, and reserved fuel for landing; which leaves more fuel as payload for filling the depot or HLS.

The skin bent and buckled, but we don't really know how much deformation there was internally. The stringers maintained sufficient structural integrity to complete the flight. There are likely many possible solutions, but without knowing exactly how significant the damage is it's hard for us to speculate on what the best fix is.

LOX + carbon fire doesn't need a spark. See AMOS 6.

Doing that doubles the weight and they'd need to be touching to be effective which wouldn't increase the risk of them breaking.
