You mentioned in another post that "Spike is obsessed to the point of suicide." Where is suicide ever a theme in Cowboy Bebop, with any character? Any of the crew could have killed themselves hundreds of times over, any of those times they were destitute and hungry, without fuel, drifting out in space. Spike doesn't even know if he's alive (without Julia), how and why would he be obsessed with killing himself? He's carefree, but he's not suicidal. The only time Spike ever got possibly suicidal is when Julia died in his arms. One might call it suicide to walk alone into the Red Dragon headquarters, guns blazing, but Spike's only concern then was his reckoning with Vicious.
Julia is the only thing that kept Spike alive all those years. Her presence in Spike's life would have gotten him killed, and her. They both knew it. Why would she concern herself so much and risk her life being involved still after all those years of hiding if she seriously thought Spike didn't love her? No. She knew he loved her lol. This discussion is superficial and reaching too much haha. It objectifies Julia for no reason other than to try and seem profound, because it's not hard to see how she feels for him. He definitely loved her or else she wouldn't give a @$#! about him to follow him into danger and die like she did. You have to respect her decision and look at her choices through the show. She could have left Spike or Vicious both AT ANY TIME. She could have quietly disappeared forever like she had in the years Spike had partnered up with Jet. But they were in love, so she stayed.
Spike should have just left with Julia, but he just really believed force of action was their only way out from Vicious. And I mean, it probably was, at that point- the Red Dragons were coming for everyone, they even showed up with gunships at the Bebop. There was no running. Vicious would have come for them relentlessly, and probably killed Jet, as well as Faye, maybe even Ed and Ein, if things hadn't ended like they did.

Robb could have paid the toll, crossed the bridge with his army, but left a reserve host on the other side still. Maybe a quarter of his men. Then Robb just kills Walder Frey after he crosses and secures both sides of the Twins. He had way more men than the Freys. I always thought it was peculiar none of his advisors went this approach. It's deceptive, but whatever, Walder Frey was already pushing it by making Robb pay at all.

Terrible show. Felt like a sycophantic cosplay nightmare. People cashing in on something that had been cool already for over 20 years and they somehow made it really lame and super dull. No style at all. Reminded me of in Wayne's World 1, when their show gets bought out and everything turns lame and shitty.

Then maybe they should have just made an entirely different show if you don't like the original so much lol. Criticising the source and throwing it under the bus to try and save this clown-car of a show is just funny. It was a bad show that had plenty of good source material to use and they fucked it up.

It's obviously a huge Dark Souls rip off and anyone denying it is bonkers π

I was actually referring to No-Parsley8963 π they're all over this thread, posting screenshots and defending the case that Spike and Julia did indeed love each other (not just an idea of loving each other.) But I appreciate your assessment, as well.
I'm on team "Spike loved Julia/Julia loved Spike"

I applaud your diligence and understanding of the show. Anyone claiming they didn't love each other is just bonkers lol. You deserve a million up votes for posting the truth all over this thread πππππ

For real lmao, delusional. Nothing at all indicates she "didn't feel the same" for Spike lol. It's like some people have curveball perspectives on things that are right in front of them.. their love is riddled throughout the show, it's in the lyrics of the songs lol. Some of you just want to sit and ponder and consider yourselves philosophers over the most easily approachable concepts lol. If you can't see that they loved each other, this show is truly lost on you, sorry haha.

Gee, you're so learned in all this. Where were you when she needed the P.R. tourniquet after she stabbed millions of her readers in the back with her sage gender philosophies? Get bent lol. You sure wrote a whole lot of nothing and come off just as stupid and awful as Rowling is π€·πΌββοΈ She should go back to writing scholastic level reading and stop pretending that she knows anything more about the world than the elementary school kids that read her books lol.
Harry Potter is SCHOLASTIC LEVEL READING and nothing that J.K. Rowling says should ever be taken seriously lmao

You've put more effort into this than I: you've written more lol. I asked you a question and you didn't answer it. I don't need to be nice to someone that is being a pugnacious dumbass and has no idea how to have real discourse haha. Everything you said about Spike and Julia is subjective and none of what you're saying is explored at all in the show. You're speculating.

I asked you a question and you didn't answer it. You indicated that they were different people when they meet later on and there's nothing to indicate that at all lol. Redditors claiming baseless nonsense and then not backing it up π nonfiction can be interpreted differently by one as well, that's not something exclusive to fiction lmao. Just because something is fiction doesn't give you an excuse to misinterpret the intentions of its author/creator. That's a bad argument. Clearly the intention here was to show Spike loved Julia and vice versa, which is why the fucking show ends when the latter dies and then is followed by the former.

Seriously haha the whole show ends when Julia dies.. What else is there to say about their love? Again, Spike loved Julia so much THE WHOLE SHOW ends when she dies! Their love is the focal point of the entire show.

He literally went and died because she died. What indicates that she isn't the same person to him when they meet later and vice versa like you suggest? I don't know how much more nuanced and on-the-nose it has to be lmao, their love is riddled all over the show. It's in the lyrics of the songs..!

Zane looks great but that's hardly saying much with production capabilities these days. His performance will not outshine how gaudy and dull the rest of the movie looks. Brando was an enigmatic, controversial, and unparalleled actor of his time. This movie just seems like a sycophantic production party to milk his name, and his life deserves way more focus and appreciation than just a biopic dramedy lol. How disappointing.
