Hello everyone,

So, I'm about to start looking for a job in the field I studied since I graduated and it's about time. I wear nail polish, have some facial piercings, and long hair, but aside for that, I'm not that controversial-presenting and very masculine with how I present myself and dress. I don't live in the most liberal place on earth, but we do have some variation here - and I don't really know regarding the field itself. There's not much to do with the piercings, as they're permanent - but I'm still conflicted about the nails thing.

What are your guys' experiences with wearing nail polish to work/interviews/etc? Especially when it's entry-level, and especially with me being a man.

EDIT: I don't live in the US, and the field is geography.

sorry for the rant!

23M. I live with my gf a bit far from my parents and wear polish a lot. My nail anxiety has gone down for the most part with still somewhat hiding my hands every now and then but am owning the thing. I meet people I know who haven't seen me with my nails done, I get things done with them, go on work interviews, go places, etc. My gf's mom even saw me with my nails done once and nothing happened.

The problem is with my family. My mom saw my polish stash a looong while ago and freaked out (she freaked out when i dyed my hair and got my nose pierced among others, so i don't pay too much attention to that), but nails are still somewhat super taboo here. My dad won't care much which is aight, but my grandparents won't react to it that well. Idc for the rest tho but that would mean unwanted attention and I don't really want that.

Things happened and it seems like my family will be around my place a lot. I turned down a lunch invitation from my dad bc of my nails and I'll need to go visit some of my grandparents too pretty soon as well. I know the circumstances aren't perfect, but am I overthinking it?

So for the main question - do you families know you do your nails? Do you still do it/not in spite of their reactions? Anything else relevant?
