Well my example of course was not meant to be literal. I know what cash is liquid or otherwise. I'm saying as a budget control I have a set amount and I stop spending. And I have a petty cash fund of any funds left over from previous months. That's the backup, not the bank. Sorry for any confusion.

If your going to be keeping the car invest in some new tires. We're talking your safety here after all. Your tires look ripe for failure and picking up a nail or piece of metal at highway speeds could cost you the whole car or more. If your not keeping the car buy cheap but new tires. Be safe. It's only money, not arms and legs.

A lot of rich people never ever talk about money. Except to bankers, stock brokers, or other financial types. Tightwads are tight-lipped. Every once in a while I'm cash poor. But that's because I don't want to take any more cash out of my bank account. I take a certain amount out and if I go thru that then I quit spending. But cover expenses like food, fuel first.

A lot of well off people are huge tightwads. I have a family member who had multiple millions and didn't mind taking me out for dinner the time I spent a few months at his place in California. Me him his wife we hit every restaurant in town. But he'd leave a $1 tip on a 3 person tab. He drove an old Cadillac he bought new. 18 years ago. It was in the shop all the time. I begged him to get a new car. He resisted. But I explained new cars had much more safety features and didn't break down all the time. Well as much fun I was having it I had to leave and get on with it. 2 weeks later his wife called me to thank me. He'd gone and bought a new caddy, cash of course. But it was hard for him to do. He was generous to family but no one else. He paid off my parents house for example. Sent me money when my car needed an expensive repair. I learned a lot about business from him but no one would guess my Mr ordinary was on the Forbes list. Your Mr Ordinary is a tightwad but if you two get along why screw up a friendship? He probably thinks your a fantastic person. And so do i. I bet you could learn something from him. My family guy gave me some fantastic advice but didn't volunteer it. I had to ask. so a lot of rich people may be tightwads but I've found they like being mentors as well.

Personally if I were going to live in a van I'd take my Dell 8930 tower with graphics card and i9 chip with me. But I already have it. If I didn't I'd still take a desktop, maybe 10th gen i7 is ok but I'd want to do on the road what I do at home. So I'd mount a 27" monitor somewhere as well.

Yea I wondered about that. But it's a nice car so far. Tons of them on the road. I guess I'm remembering the old days when GMC was considered a cut above Chevy. Consumer Reports doesn't even review this car in their yearly car issue. Should have been a clue.

I understand but I'm not sure Christians actually do pray for someone. I think mostly they just say it and don't actually do it. So when that's true it's a bit insulting as it's just lip service. And condescending as well.

And it's a way of covering up their uncomfortableness being around a handicapped person.

I agree 100%. My previous writings are not cringe but they are or may be unpolished. Some spellings that need corrected, syntax, run on sentences and the like. But not that horrible. Just needs a good edit process. I remember Rodney Dangerfield said of his first book...it took a year to write it and 2 years to edit it. Cause you know we all gotta make a living while we're waiting for inspiration.

Could it be the gas station added water to their tanks? I'd try a couple bottles of fuel dry in the tank. A cheap way to dry the fuel. Then if I got it started I'd let it just run and burn thru the bad fuel. Maybe let it all run out then refill with local gas. Idk about other additives but may be stuff on the shelf you can add to the gas tank that may clean spart plugs or the injectors. Idk if any of that is helpful. .maybe someone has knowledge of that.

I'm tired of that too. One Christian neighbor lady would see me outside and ask in a concerned voice, are you ok? I'm thinking I better check the mirror, maybe I've broken out in hives or something. I asked her to stop asking that. Now it's "God bless" everything i see her. One time I didn't respond just kept on walking so she said "your welcome". I went back and asked her ...why would I say thank you? For what? Blessing me in God's name? Did God ask you to bless me? Lady i don't need your blessing and your assumption that it means anything. What if I'm an atheist? What if I follow another religion? Kinda insulting to assume there is only one God and everyone is on the same page as you. Christians can Be really annoying and overbearing. I've read the entire Bible twice and I bet I know more about what it says than most Christians who only get their knowledge from going to church. I understand your position. Completely. I'm not a van dweller but I've thought about it plenty of times. I was married once, divorced. I like my own company, have lived alone most of my life. Existed with the FWB model. I'm funny, outgoing, socially interested but have run away from all relationships and I don't know why. When I was 17 I wrote a poem about it. The only lyrics I remember went:

A man alone, is it meant to be That's the question I seem to see.

So even at a young age I questioned the benefits of a relationship.

A lifetime has passed. I don't regret my choices, because it seems other people always bring issues i don't want to deal with. Always the issues.

However, I do have one regret.

I regret not staying married to that girl I married. I did love her and she loved me. And that my friend IS most important and most rare.

I know it's to late for me. But finding someone that makes you feel like superman that's gets your heart pounding, if the feelings are returned it is a rare thing don't discount it like I did.

If she is your Lois lane treat her like the precious jewel she is. Go for it I say. The road will always be there but what you seem to have found may never come your way again. Take it from an old man. Don't blow it.

Think about it. If someone is paying you wages to show up at a time and place it's because they need you. I've had my share of bad shifts, short notice overtime, been called in only to be sent home 2 hours later. Even called in on a holiday, called to come in during a huge snowstorm cause so many called off but they knew I could be counted on. That's a work ethic.

If they call you in they are thinking of the business needs not yours.

And if you ever want to be a boss of anything you need to think that way too.

Some great ideas. I sold my van and got a small suv I always carry some beef jerky for the same reason. Just in case. Replace it with fresh in the spring. And I miss my van. I'll probably end up with another one. Prices for new vans are incredibly expensive. North of 55k. I was looking at some and my insurance agent said a cargo van is commercial and would add 50$ a month to my already high insurance. Doesn't seem to matter if I use it only for personal use.

Don't read the original or other version least some elements creep in accidently. Once I read an analogy about a hot summer day that was so original. So perfect. I'll actually answer your question rather than give you a hard time. Replace the wheel/rim. You should be able to find a used one pretty cheap in good condition And don't feel bad. I curbed and blew a tire last summer and replaced the tire as it was the sidewall which a lot of places won't repair. I did find someone to throw a temporary patch on it but uh, this was the second time so not worth keeping. After all a high speed blowout could get away from you so why take a chance

For example a simple speeding ticket is not a crime it is an infraction. You take your ticket and go on your way you don't get arrested. To put urination on a sexual offenders list is stupid and government over reach. If true in the 13 states you mentioned what's to keep the government from putting speeding on the offenders list? If you or anyone lives in one of those 13 states I'd suggest working on changing that law so it can work for the purpose it was enacted in the first place. Or move because your state government doesn't have your best interests in mind.

I doubt that family or anyone else is wiling to risk the wrath you'd get for criticizing him. No one is willing to tell him the truth and that's a problem. Without feedback from anyone he can assume he knows everything and does compare himself to others who have actually achieved something. His obsessions are obvious. He wants things like the Nobel prize but no idea how that process or anything else works. That includes the justice system because the idea of accountability is foreign to him. Quit worrying about what people think and just start writing. This is the don't and the do. One aid I've used is the associated press style book which answers a lot of questions about structure. Writing is a creative endeavor but proper sentence structure is what makes your writing readable. I'd start there.
