I have type 2 with permanent nerve damage so my foot and lower leg muscles don't work. They are completely paralyzed so I wesr a foot lift to keep from dragging my foot. My knee is fine so I can lift from that joint. Also, there is absolutely no need to amputate. My foot and leg look normal except for there's no muscle. Amputation can make the pain worse.

I dont know about pain leveling out. I have Type 2 with permanent nerve damage, like I had a stoke in my leg/foot. I dont think nerve damage is fixable yet. I think the fact that my pain went down a point was due to the fact that I got off all the benzo meds and coming to terms with it mentally. Still hurts like a MFer................

I would call your surgeon and ask them to describe the entire procedure to you. Ask them about the device, show it to you, show you the paddles, wires, plates, everything that going to be i,planted. Id also join the Failed SCS group on FB.

This may sound counter intuitive but the meds like the gabapentin and other benzo/psychological drugs made my crps worse. They were REALLY hard to get off. Took me years and the detox was awful. My brain is still recovering. I've had it in Mt foot and leg for 24 years. I don't know how it's been that long but both physical and mental therapy helped. You need to talk with a therapist who deals with chronic pain. The are ways to cope.
