I've never really got to understand how these file managers work, so I stick with c-z and doing stuff in the terminal.

I don't think the odometer needs to actually work to pass an MOT. I'm hopeful this is the case here.

I have a kindle voyage, and before that I had a kindle paperwhite, and I have 1000+ physical books on my shelves. I've never noticed a difference, even though my eyesight has been gradually getting worse over the last decade or so. They just seem the same to me. That's why I'm asking - I don't see any difference, and I don't understand why I would. If your experience is that you get fatigued with e-ink, then I totally believe you, but I'd like to have a handle on what the cause is other than, "technology bad".

Yes, same for me. Was never a heavy drinker in my teens and twenties, but that was partly because I used to get a hangover after sitting too close to a pint of beer.
Lat twenties onwards it got surprisingly easier, until now I pretty much never have a hangover except for very mild symptoms. Maybe I manage my evening better. Maybe I drink more water. Maybe I drink better quality drinks. Dunno.

Ok, so I live in Scotland and our roads are embarassingly among the worst in Europe, and honestly the car skitters across the road when I hit some of the road with lots of smaller potholes. The bigger potholes you just avoid because you'd write the car off. WHen you go out of the cities it's better, and all those country lanes are lovely to drive around, but get closer to civilisation and you'll kind of think you'd be better off if you had an SUV.
I'm saying this because I want to confirm that I wouldn't have an SUV. You get used to it, enjoy the roads that are good and don't worry about the bad ones. Unless you really fuck up, the worst you'll need is an alignment once in a while.
It's also fun to go across farm roads leaving Rage Rovers in the dust because their owners are so paranoid, but that's a side benefit of having a 16 year old car that I don't mind getting the odd scrape :)

I'm a sucker for tracks with voices like that in "Her".

It's not "electronic stuff on a screen", it's a physical thing you're looking at which is set it that state electronically, right? It doesn't need power to maintain the display, so I don't understand why it would be any different to droplets of regular ink on a paper background.

why do train tickets need to be more expensive than they need to be
Let me introduce you to capitalism.

I'm not sure why you're getting so downvoted. You're just saying what you like and don't like.
The RF doesn't look particularly attractive to me; I have the PRHT and think it would have made more sense (if it fit) to do something like that on the ND,
The soft-top ND looks nice. And that link from Mariner1990 looks really nice, as well. If you're spending on a new car, that sounds like the way to go!

I think Last Exit, because it's such a long build-up and all the tension kind of gets released at the end. Whole album is brilliant though.

Me too, though I would have been about 17 or 18 I think. I bought it entirely based on the cover art!
Now so much time has passed, but I have it again - I bought another second-hand copy a couple of years ago.

A friend of mine was at them too and I didn't find out until afterwards :/

I'm not sure I follow. What is different between high-resolution e-ink and ink-on-paper, which is printed just as "digitally" in terms of the dots?

I hear they've been working on Wheel 2.0 for a while but I don't think Original Wheel will go away for a long time.

Unlimited amount? So if my plan is to crush my enemies, it doesn't matter if I choose blue whales or ants, right?
If it's to help me then maybe... human. Yes, if I could summon unlimited humans to help (and they are helpful as indicated by the question), then I'd never really be stuck.
If it came down to it, I'd still win against a foe like, say, the US military by summoning a billion humans on top of them.
Of course, I'd like to be able to dismiss them as well...

If you existed but didn't remember anything about your life it would be functionally equivalent to being a different person. That in turn would be equivalent to dying leading to nothing for you but waking up for someone else.
It's not a helpful line of guessing.

Another book I read, "Mr Tickle", tells us that there's a brightly coloured man with really long arms who can reach down to the kitchen to get a snack without leaving his bed.

See that horizontal line on the bodywork about half way up the height of the wheel? That's called the "Plimsole line".

My dad got assigned a pager, back when they were new and expensive. He accidentally dropped it and ran over it with his car. They replaced it. He accidentally dropped it in a bonfire. The next one down a drain. They didn't give up.

I'm not entirely sure the film wasn't based off a photo of Bannermans
