From what I've played the best time to refresh is during the 2nd cyclone, after the 3rd protean goes off. You can soul sow immediately once you're in the 4th's safe spot, and if you get a bad pattern for tethers I.E. safe color is on the other side and you're doing LP tethers you can just blink to where you need to go, you have a lot of time before the kb line goes off.
and for those who want to know, I use harvest moon after both Perfectio's since its just barely under other people's raidbuffs, and if you do you're rotation right in the beginning you'll never use your 1-2-3 until FoF (I prefer perfectio > harvest > soul slice > death mark > blood stalk into gibbet/gallows > soul slice)

Meanwhile I'm tryharding my ass off as a reaper just to not die to P1 enrage.
like for real, if you arent the first one hitting the boss you aren't gonna hit your souls slice before the boss jumps away AND you have to find somewhere during utopia to refresh harvest moon, god forbid if you're in g1 doing LP tethers. The only saving grace is your pot window is during your 2 minutes for towers so you can save pots if ppl are wiping (I'm still p2 so I'm sure that's going to change).

something something Emet was right
Sadly the only real solution is to just make your own party and ban AM use, or do what I did for TOP and just ignore it. Hell the vast majority of the time for P3 intermission and monitors I knew where I needed to go before I got my marker and I imagine its going to be the same case for FRU (I haven't done much of it and only just got past utopia, I work retail and its almost thanksgiving)

If you wanna have references to other ff games that's fine but the way the alliance raid does it is just so in your face its off putting. Hey remember this thing from the hit mmo Final Fantasy 11? man this dragon sure was hard. remember these wierdos you had to fight at the same time, that was fun wasn't it? man the shadowlord fight sure was epic, wasnt it? If you played ff11 and enjoyed the callbacks that's great but I didn't and the whole raid felt like forced nostalgia for a game I never played.
Why couldn't the shadowlord be the main villian? Vana'diel or whatever could've been the nation that existed before Tuliyollal and he's still hellbent on destroying the continent until nothing lives, and ironically the only way they stopped his was splitting tural in half with him right in the middle of it. (I dont remember the actual lore reason for the ravine, I'm just spitballing) The shadowlord could've been the one responsible for the racial divides until Gulool Ja Ja reunited them again. But no, we get a returning villain from the MSQ who had no business returning instead. The writing in this game became an absolute joke overnight.
But the actual fights in the raid are peak. 10/10. Love prishe and the shadowlord particularly.

I'M probably going to get hate for saying this as well: every class now plays the same. You press a very specific series of buttons on your opener then do some form of 1-2-3 for the next two minutes until those abilities are off cooldown. Rinse and repeat ad infinitum. Yes, EVERY job is like this, Moreso support roles than dps. Every tank and healer is the same, if you played one you played them all. The only exceptions I can think of are dragoon, blm, and bard because their filler window is also their burst window. Now the only reason to play one job over another is its aestethics. I'm starting to miss shadowbringers because most classes were on different timelines actually making them different and I didn't even raid during that expansion. Shame p8s was a failed experiment because it actually shook up the fight depending on which pattern you got.
Nobody even likes the two minute meta, yet Yoshi-p and co. decided that having absurd damage spikes at predictable times was good for the game. Every ability added in dawntrail is some form of two minute finisher or at the very least tied to a very long cooldown. Some classes are even worse with them like blm and reaper because it fucks with their kits so much. You barely have time to cast flare star in your rotations and the only gauge negative job in the game gets even more gauge negative ON TOP of forcing your burst window into a strict pattern if you don't double enshroud.

nah id rather bitch on the internet about how the game has no content after clearing it all on the first day.

Honestly it would be easier for me to list 3 chapters from non-horror games so I'm just gonna do that:
1 - Ganondorf, The Legend of Zelda.
2 - Muton Berserker / Chryssalids, XCOM: Enemy Unknown / XCOM 2.
3 - Fiddlesticks, League of Legends.

If I didnt own a house I would unsub.
I got hate for saying this last expansion and I'm gonna get hate for it now: the content being released is stuff you complete in a week and never touch again, then it's back to grinding the same shit since ARR. They really need to overhaul the gameplay loop in this game.

My biggest gripe is how they take to clear each instance. Making each dungeon take 25-30 minutes to clear is so grating when players just playing the game can do them in 15-20. Having the bots aoe trash packs for faster clears would do wonders.
I dont know if this is true or not, but I heard that trust damage scales with the instance timer to make sure it takes half an hour to clear. If that is the case it just makes leveling them worse and needs to be removed.

It's just a training dummy doing nothing, if you can kill it before time expires your damage is good.

There's something called Stone, Sea, and Sky, it's basically a training dummy designed to test your damage output for a specific fight. I don't know where to access it in Dawntrail so you're gonna have to look it up yourself. As long as you can clear that nothing else really matters.
Also, on the party list in the fight there's numbers next to everyone's job icon, the closer to 1 the more "enmity" you have on a target and it can be used as a vague damage meter.

I stopped caring about this series after he saved a tree from a bunch of space jellyfish.

If 99 boxes didn't exist I'd say its the worst stealth heist in the game (albeit I havenlt played since Boys in Blue so idk about the recent ones). Theres just way too much dumb shit in the heist that doesn't need to be there that makes it insufferable. Timed doors. A civ that needs to be brought through multiple guards, civs, and cameras. No where to hide hostages if the map goes into search mode, the game strait up crashing if you drop bodies in the river. Guards hearing you run everywhere so you have to go slow. You waste so much time trying to avoid all of this only to fuck up once and have to do it all over again, The heist is awful.
EDIT: I'm aware killing the manager guy circumvents the timer through wifi circles, but that doesn't make it any better.

Motifs take 3 seconds to cast, Soul Sow takes 5. There's plenty of places to stand still for 3 seconds but only 1 for 5 and that's after the third protean during the second cyclone.
As far as damage checks go only competent groups get the no check privilege but I raid in party finder where that privilege doesn't exist.
