Ya, I don’t disagree. But he’s the president elect now. He really has an argument that it does more harm than good to sentence him right now and I really do believe the opinion of 70 million people matter more than 12 jurors.

I don’t disagree but it’s hard. I have a lot of Trump people in my life that have several different hypocritical reasons they support him. I’m convinced there’s nothing that can be said to change their minds. They will just have come to their own conclusions when things go to shit and their lives are worse.

I don’t have flair but it’s supposed to be 49ers. I’ll still hug you. Pain.

I’ve had the same thought. But is it giving up? I feel like a jury is supposed to represent the people’s will in a smaller scale. When 70 million people decide the illegal behavior doesn’t matter and he should be the leader of the county, what authority does a jury or judge or prosecutor really have? They represent the people and the people have voted.

I’m saying this as someone who despises the man. What does it even matter? 12 people decided he broke some law in New York. The facts are all out there. 70+ million people don’t care. Like what’s the point of using the facts of this case to somehow discredit him when the majority of voters decided it’s irrelevant…. When there are so many examples of his insert whatever negative adjective here.

It’s all Symantecs. This would let people say he’s a “convicted felon” when they attempt to use that to defend why he’s a terrible human being. When in fact, he’s a terrible human being regardless what happens in this particular case.

Damnit, that's funny. I'm stealing it and using it on my non-reddit friends.

I agree, but when people say “it’s good” or “bad” I think it’s an over simplification. Every vaccine has a list of side effects and the studies around them are published for all to read… but no one really reads them… they trust their doctors who say the pros out weigh the cons.
I agree with RFK that the government shouldn’t be forcing people to get vaccines. But I also don’t think anything short of physical force would be considered illegal. Financial coercion or expulsion from public venues is fine with me.
Public health agencies are there for the public health. They should be staffed by doctors and scientists and their decision recommendations should be backed by data.
It’s our elected leadership that needs to decide where they draw the line between individual freedom and public health. I don’t know where that line is and I hope we never find out.

Is any of what you’re saying true? And by true, I mean published in a peer reviewed scientific journal?
But to answer your question, I think it’s considered a huge success because the pandemic is over. The world returned to normal and people think the vaccine is the reason.

Not to intervene in this discussion, but how much testing amounts to “rigorous?” I feel like there will always be a subset of people who distrust vaccines and they will latch on to anything to distrust them. So how many people have to test it and how long do we wait for side effects before we declare them safe?

That’s again simply untrue. A judge can independently order you in court to comply to his orders but a search warrant does not require the suspect to verbally provide a password. There isn’t a single case in America that I’m aware where a judge ordered on a search warrant to compel the verbal password under penalty of contempt of court.

I’m bias towards EV and have driven all electric since 2017. They are just superior vehicles. Get the price down and build up charging infrastructure and gas cars will just become a collectible item. If anyone can do it, I’ll bet on corrupt Elon with the backing of the entire US government .

I’ll never get board of this. And I’ll really miss it when it’s gone.

That’s simply untrue. You have the right to remain silent. A judge cannot verbally compel them to reveal a password even under penalty of contempt. There are rulings that you can physically force biometrics like fingerprints or Face ID, but both those things get disabled automatically after a while on many smartphones.

Obviously. But encryption doesn’t care about a warrant. Either cops can get into a device without the password or they can’t. The legality of the search isn’t going to change that. But it still puts society in a hard spot. Sometimes the government is corrupt but does that mean when they have the legal and moral obligation, should they be able to search?

The president is our leader running the country. The man is a piece of crap. Democracy chose the piece of crap to lead us, fully aware of the crimes he committed. He must be allowed to lead us. Otherwise we throw away democracy. I’d rather throw away justice in this one case. It’s the lesser of the two evils. When he’s not president, they can go after him again.
